SHOCKING HORROR! Sebastian got to our event right on time, had all his papers and tools in order, we were running behind with the preparations, but Sebastian got right to work taking pictures of everything HE thought mattered. He had all the perfect ideas and was everywhere we needed him... Or so it seemed. When I received the link to the online gallery, I was in complete shock and disbelief! I could not believe we had paid this nice man 3.5 hours @ $100 per hour to take a bunch of mediocre fotos of silly objects around our property such as perfectly focused and filtered pictures of drink dispensers and tealight lanterns, string lights, etc. When it came to pictures of people, they were off center, people's feet were cut off in ways that it looked like children had taken the pictures while having fun with a cell phone, the majority of the pictures of my daughter are cut off on the bottom and sides in awkward, random places, no filters, or even the initiative to ask others to move out of the picture, there are random people talking off to the side, even pictures he took from a lowered angle had the bottoms cut off and random people had only half of their body or faces in the pictures. This is a horrible, terrible, unprofessional, unacceptable work. I am mortified by what we received for the money we paid this sweet, smooth talking man. And now, my daughter's 15th birthday has been best captured by pictures on our guests cell phones without her ever even looking at the camera! Sebastian even took pictures of groups of my daughter's friends posed, looking off to an unseen camera! I am angered, hurt, disappointed altogether. When I asked him about all of my issues, he gave me a silly story about how this is modern photography that tells a story. And then decided not to even bother to offer any other explanation when I disagreed. This man is a complete and total impostor! Most average people can take the same or better quality photos with a modern day cell phone. 😢May 2, 2019VerifiedAvila Photography's reply
Tera, I am terribly sorry for providing you with work that did not meet or exceed your expectations. I feel that there was a lack of communication on what was expected, for which I will take full responsibility. I was under the impression that I was there to document your daughters Quinceañera, which I had thought I did well, especially for the rates we agreed on. All of my photos are professionally edited using professional editing software which allows me to deliver consist photos throughout a set, I do not use "filters." Many of the photos were taken candidly (which was the original response I gave you when you first voiced your opinions to me) to capture the moment. The more I read your comments and reviews on other outlets, though, it seems I was mistaken and you were looking for something more posed, traditional and studio-like. This is why you see many of your photographs (outside of the posed friends/family photos) with people not looking directly at the camera. Regardless, I understand that I did not meet your expectations and I sincerely apologize. You are certainly entitled to your review and opinions. In regards to the quantity of photos... I provided 283 final photos for 3.5 hours of shooting, which I think is absolutely fair. I mentioned to you over the phone, prior to you hiring me, that for a 4 hour session (which is what you originally asked for) you would see somewhere in the range of 200-300 final photos. If you were wanting more, I wish it would have been a discussion we would have had when I mentioned it to you. Lastly, the reason I did not respond via text with any kind of explanation after you disagreed was simply because you were beginning to get personal and I did not want to engage in any kind of personal discussion with you regarding this business matter. I sincerely apologize to you, your husband and most importantly, your daughter. I believe I delivered the style and quality of work portrayed in my portfolio.
Sebastian did an engagement photo session for my wife and I. We met in multiple locations and our pictures turned out fantastic. He gave us the freedom to voice our ideas and try them as well as working in the way he thought was best.Mar 23, 2019

Sebastian went above and beyond for our engagement session. It was below zero temperatures and he pushed through. He took all our ideas and suggestions and made them come to life in an image that was better than we could even imagine. He’ll go to any length to capture the perfect shot.Mar 23, 2019
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?Every session is different. With so many variables from client to client, it is best to contact and discuss details to obtain the most accurate price!
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?I first like to make sure that they have had a chance to take a look at my portfolio! With so many different artists out there with varying styles, it is important to make sure you choose the one that best fits your vision for your memories! Once that checks out, we simply discuss the details and "shot list" if there is one!
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?I began shooting back in 2009. Since the then, I have been continuously learning and studying how to be a better photographer, both technically and artistically.
