About
My main focus is on tax preparation. I do taxes for individuals, small businesses (self-employed customers) and corporations, in my office and remotely. When I do tax preparation I charge per form. When I do bookkeeping / accounting I charge per hour. Sometimes the bookkeeping is needed prior to the tax preparation and when it’s not extensive it makes sense for these services to be bundled together for better pricing.
As an Enrolled Agent and Licensed Tax Consultant (with OR Board of Tax Consultants) I can represent clients in the audits either with the IRS or Oregon Dept of Revenue. I can address the IRS and OR Department of Revenue Notices received by clients and solve the tax issues they are referring to.
For the Bookkeeping and Accounting services I charge between $75 and $100/h - depending on the complexity of the work. I can travel to Client’s business place or work remotely from my office. I use QuickBooks desktop and Online – mine or Client’s.
For tax preparation I also use Intuit software products and charge per form; it depends on how many forms individuals or businesses need for filing but also on how complex the returns are and if an extended preparation time is necessary. The fee for a basic individual tax return with just one item of income (like 1 W2 form) and standard deduction is $175.
I also do basic tax planning and annual or semi-annual projections for individuals and businesses in order to find ways for my clients to stay ahead of the game, save on taxes and to help them be compliant with the financial/tax requirements for their particular situation.
My work happens mainly in a paperless environment, so, connecting and exchanging information via internet is very efficient and important, although is not compulsory. I use several strong safeguards to protect my Client’s information at any time.
I like doing Accounting and Tax Preparation because of the multitude of aspects and cases they involve. There are many factors to consider, different frames to try, both synthetic and analytic views need to blend together and complement each other for the job to be successfully done. Accountants and Tax Preparers are those able to break things down and reconstruct the whole - not only to measure the financial efforts and returns, but to present reliable and comprehensive descriptions of the trends and projection analysis, raising budget awareness, educate clients and ultimately saving Clients’ money through applying the right knowledge to the right situation.

Mihaela is amazing! I was a bit of a mess and she's helped me get organized with accounting and tax prep. This can be really overwhelming and sort of scary. But she's made it as seamless of a process as possible. She also didn't make me feel like an idiot as she untangled the mess I was in. I recommend her for sure!

We have a complex tax return (including assets in foreign countries). Due to the complexity of our tax return, we wanted it prepared professionally by someone who could represent us in front of the IRS (should that be required). Mihaela was a great selection.
Before immigrating to the U.S., Mihaela was a chartered accountant in Romania. A chartered accountant is much like a CPA in the U.S. That speaks of a depth and breadth of experience you rarely find in a U.S. tax preparer. At a very reasonable rate. We highly recommend Mihaela.

I sought tax assistance from a professional this year because when I input all my numbers into online software, it told me I owed thousands of dollars. I explained my situation to Mihaela who provided up-front pricing (not hourly). She was willing to meet me at my location, which was a wonderful service and most importantly, she reduced my tax bill significantly!

FAQs
What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
For bookkeeping/accounting projects I charge between $75 and $100/h - depending on the volume and complexity of the projects.
For tax preparation I charge per form, but custom-made packages are available, the same as discounts, when bookkeeping or accounting are needed before the tax preparation, depending on the case. The basic fee for an individual tax return (federal + state) with 1 item of income and standard deduction is $175. There are additional fees on the top of the basic fee - depending on the forms needed and complexity.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I offer remote services but I can meet with the clients in my office as well - or travel to their location (rarely).
I inform the Client about the documents needed for the project they want to get done.
I briefly explain the process and sequence of steps.
Prior years information is always needed, so, I invite my clients to discussion and provide them with a preliminary list containing the necessary documents for the tax preparation/accounting.
Unless it is a simple one, very seldom I choose to finish a tax return on the spot. Usually, it takes about 2 weeks for a return of mid-level complexity to be completed. I prepare the returns in the order they come in.
I work mainly in a paperless environment. I usually scan Client’s documents when we meet in my office, if that’s the case. Sometimes clients mail in their documents, but most of the time these are provided for me online.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I graduated from Economic Academy of Bucharest - Romania.
I practiced accounting as a Chartered Accountant in Romania.
I became an Enrolled Agent (able to practice and represent clients before the IRS) and LTC (Licensed Tax Consultant) with OR Board of Tax Practitioners in 2010
