Introduction
Based in Portland, I am a professional photographer specializing in people: portraits, music, weddings and families. I consider myself a documentarian but with a great eye for detail and emotion. I strive to capture people honestly and document a particular moment of time while taking care to be as unobtrusive as possible.

I've known Jason for a long time as a musician...he was always in the front row, snapping pictures of the stage or documenting a festival. He stepped in last minute to photograph our wedding last august when our initially contracted photographer suddenly backed out. He was, of course, fantastic. As both human being and creative eye I can confidently say that Jason has the perfect mix of personality, easy-going charm, and critical eye to make excellent photos at any event. He's unobtrusive without being timid, friendly but not disruptive...he manages to always keep his camera trained on the most important moments. Our finished products were incredible... he even lugged his old medium format film camera to our site, developed the film and scanned high-rez copies for our final product. Several friends and family have contacted me to say how great our photos look. So, even with just two weeks' notice, Jason stepped in and stepped up. I'm confident he did as good, or better, than our first contact for the same price. That, my friends, is called The Real Deal.

Jason photographed our wedding and we couldn't have been happier with the experience and the outcome! He met with us at the outdoor venue beforehand to come up with a plan and was very flexible and willing to try whatever we wanted and at the same not afraid to give his professional opinion if something couldn't work. The day of the wedding was a little crazy and the weather went from heavy rain to sun to overcast however that did not affect the photography; the photos turned our perfect! We weren't expecting to see any photos for a quite a while but he sent us some teasers that brought us to tears a mere 3 days after the wedding! Jason's knowledge and professionalism is impressive and the photographs are exactly what we wanted. We are so happy we chose to work with Jason on such an important day!

From the moment we contacted Jason, he was a responsive and accommodating professional, especially given our rushed, disorganized and somewhat unusual situation. My wife (Japanese-Shinto) and I (USA-Jewish) were to be holding a 'destination' wedding in my hometown of Portland, but were organizing the event from Cambodia (where I live). The ceremony was to be a non-traditional mixture of a few traditions and in an outdoor venue that had never hosted a wedding. Jason met with us when we arrived for the wedding and helped us sort out the best timing, angles, and protocol for family photos. On the day, he was there when we needed him, pulled off family photos without any stress, and got the comprehensive list of shots -- there was really something and more for everyone. After the wedding, his full-service website helped us (in Cambodia) to get the digital shots (of all different qualities) we needed and get our albums made even in a foreign country. All in all, highly recommended!

We hired Jason for our wedding photography based upon our knowledge of his relaxed presence and ability to capture candid moments that so often go missed. Neither of us wanted to feel on-camera during our wedding day, and Jason was just the photographer to be at-ease with us, and also make magic on film. When we look through our wedding photos we see photo after photo that reflects the joy and presence we felt. Our joy and spirits are held and reflected in his photos, helping us remember not just the day but who we were on the day we made our vows to each other. He clearly listened to our preferences and hopes for wedding photos from our planning session with him, and also handled family-photo tensions and concerns reflecting a high level of professionalism. They say your day can go by like a blur, and Jason caught the expressions and interactions of our favorite people on earth. The moment when my nearly 7-foot tall meets my new 90+yr old Chinese grandfather-in-law; the second my father cried and hugged my brother, the anticipating and excitement of our guests, my new wife being tackle-hugged by three bow-tied nephews. Jason also went above and beyond in a big way. Our wedding was two days before gay-marriage was legalized in the state of Oregon and instead of heading off on a honeymoon Monday morning included a trip to the county building to get our license and get legally wed. Jason showed up and kept taking photographs. Is that amazing or what? We will definitely work with Jason again when we adopt children, buy our first home, or throw an amazing party.

A friend of my suggested Jason when I was looking for a wedding photographer. I was looking for someone who could do candid photos, was local and a small business. He was worth every penny spent! The wedding was at The Grand Lodge in Forest Grove with 105+ people both inside and out. Inside had lots of odd lighting Jason had to work around. He was a one man show, able to capture special moments I wanted.. He was professional, friendly and even kept my Mother in Law updated on her favorite hockey team's score. I can't wait to use in for family photos and other events in the future.
