Introduction: I love what I do and am really good at bringing people into a world of wonder and healing through music. I teach out of the Big Mouth studio in the middle of town (east side) and occasionally on the campus of Reed College, where I also have a teaching studio. The Big Mouth studio functions as a tightly knitted community of adult musicians of all levels. It is led by award-winning musicians who are currently active performers, composers, and pedagogues who share insights, knowledge, and experience with their students and colleagues. The studio specializes in historical and contemporary classical music, and actively create space for social and political discourse. The ability to turn strangers into friends; the ability to delight and heal; and the ability to give insights to creative minds.

Emily is a wonderful teacher. She makes you feel comfortable in a great learning environment while explaining and showing you the correct techniques of piano. She pushes me in the right way to not only am I learning way faster than I thought I would learn...but Makes it so fun that I wanna push myself to learn also. Four stars outta four 👍👍👍

I love working with Emily. She has a wealth of knowledge about the repertoire I'm interested in, as well as a deep understanding of vocal pedagogy. In the last several months she's already given me many strategies to be able to sing in a healthier and more productive way. Emily also provides a supportive, focused, and creative environment, which fosters better musicianship and musicality. I highly, highly recommend her.

$40 - Initial lesson $45 - half hour for regular students $30 - half hour for members of Big Mouth Society $90 - one hour for regular students $60 - one hour for members of Big Mouth Society Classes and ensembles: $100 month for regular students FREE for members of the Curiosity Crossing CSA
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Students come in for a 45-minutes consultation to determine whether it is a good fit for both the student and the teacher.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a masters degree in my field, and two levels of certification in innovative methods in teaching music to children and adults. I serve on the board of directors of a national music service organization.
