When I began the project of getting the carpets on my upstairs replaced with laminate flooring, I shuddered with the complexity of what I was undertaking. First of all, I live on a floating home, and the closest parking lot is about 75 yds to my front door up and down a fairly steep ramp. Obstacle two was the stairway to my second floor is rather narrow and very steep. The third challenge was, upstairs, is both my bedroom, full of HEAVY log furniture, as well as my elaborate ( and BIG ) home theatre room, solid oak LARGE desk, book cases and other big and heavy furniture. The bottom line … Chad and his second in command ( I believe it was Chris ) never stopped to so much as to blink when estimating the job and costs. Their bid was much MUCH lower than the next best bids. They showed up on schedule and attacked the project like two seasoned pros. Thats was what a nice person would say. Me, I saw it like ... two men "possessed". ;-) They had just two days to tear out all the old carpet, tack strips, and pad and haul that HUGE mess away ( up the ramps and across the parking lot ) and then to haul box after box, AFTER BOX, of laminate flooring from the parking lot, down the ramps, and down the walkway to my home and then up those narrow and steep stairs. UNBELIEVABLE !!!!! Oh lets not forget to mention all the HUGE power tools and table saws and other big equipment they have to do a remarkable and totally PROFESSIONAL JOB. They jumped on the job at 8 a.m. on a Thursday morning and worked well past 6 p.m. and then right back at it on Friday and by around 8 p.m., VOILA … A MASTERPIECE. I have NEVER ever been more satisfied with a home remodel than with Chad Rayon and his company Start to Finish Construction. I would be delighted to call him back for any future remodeling work or project that would come up in the future, and would recommend him without the slightest reservation to both friends or family. Sincerely, Richard Slackman bfloating@comcast.net

Unfortunately my experience was quite different. Start to finish was retained to complete some repairs on a home we were purchasing in a real estate transaction. Our Realtor notified us that all of the repairs were completed and so we had our inspector go out and reinspect the repairs. We were shocked to find out that almost all were not done properly. Rot was not repaired on a post, masked with heavy paint; defective LP siding was supposed to be removed from behind the deck and some was trimmed off but some still remained; flashing was installed incorrectly at our back door/deck. We just had no confidence that this work was being done to industry standards. So we worked it out with the Sellers to get a new contractor brought in to finally get the repairs done properly. He showed us the improper installation flashing job that Start to Finish had just installed. Water could still enter under the flooring from the back and it would have turned into a serious problem over time. Sorry to have to write a bad review. I just had to write it because I would not recommend this company.

I totally disagree with this Review. First of all I'm not sure who you are. I'm guessing just the new owners of the property? I was contracted to re-side, paint and re-roof this huge house in Lake Owsego from my clients. I completed my contract with my clients complete satisfaction. The items that are being talked about are from an addendum report. I repaired items under my clients direction and very specific, minimum as possible, based of the "verbiage" of the inspection report. Again, Under my clients request and with full knowledge of the "quality" of repairs that were being done. Example; flashing on back deck. There was never any flashing on the back deck from when the house was built. So for any more "serious damage" to accrue it would hardly be from some flashing that was installed to help protect what was already a problem. The true fix was to take apart the faulty ledger and partial decking that never had any flashing and was installed completely wrong. This was talked about and I was directed not to repair it this way because of costs from my client. This review should be directed towards a different area. My work speaks for itself and I will always stand by it. I'm sorry you feel this way and that you were left out of the facts about what took place. I do appreciate your review.

Start to Finish Construction remodeled our daylight basement after a very bad flood situation. They removed and hauled away all the damaged carpet and drywall. All new drywall was installed along with all new wood trim, carpeting and vinyl flooring. We were very happy with the end result and Chad added some very nice touches to the trim work at no extra charge. We had one small issue that was resolved very promptly. I would use them again without hesitation!

Chad is first class! He is a meticulous craftsman and honest in every way. His prices are fair and he does an outstanding job cleaning up after himself. I plan on using his skills again in the near future on other work I need done.

FAQs

  • What types of customers have you worked with?

Bathroom remodels we do the most. We have done over 50 completed bathroom remodels. We do the work from the ground up and have selected specialty sub-contractors that have been working for us for many years. So you can be sure that your project will be done on time and in budget.

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Make sure your contractor is experianced in the project that you are working on and not just hiring other contractors to do the work. Always get three quotes and go with the contractor your most comfortable with based on experiance, knowlage and customer service.
