FAQs
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
This experience showed me that part of the moving industry's schtick was necessarily miscalculating how much a job will be. For example, people would call a moving service for a quote, the mover would throw out some random number, and then once the actual move transpired it would ask for more citing unaccounted details. After hearing numerous customer rants about problem like these, we founded Mvp Discount Movers, 2011. The idea behind Mvp was simple, give people a flat moving rate before move date, so customers know exactly what to expect. We created a formula based on how many items, how big they were, and many other moving-related contingencies that Mvp used to give precise cost calculations. Since then, Mvp Discount Movers has grown tremendously, with multiple locations.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
There’s no denying it, moving is a huge hassle. Between packing boxes, renting trucks, finding help, and taking care of the thousand smaller-yet-still-absolutely-vital details that go along with changing residences, it’s a miracle that any of us make it out of the ordeal in one piece! Even if you decide to just go ahead and hire a moving company to take care of the heavy lifting (literally and figuratively), there’s still a lot that you’re going to have to take care of in order for the process to go smoothly. Given the overall complexity of the entire operation, it can be easy to feel as though you’re drowning under a tide of responsibilities. And you know what? If you absent-mindedly neglect even one of those responsibilities, then it can end up derailing your entire move.
- What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?
The good news is that you don’t have to rely upon your own memory when it comes to planning out the process; we’ve created this handy checklist that will help guide you through your move—from weeks before, to the day of, and beyond.
