FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
My pricing is fair. I will calculate the average cost of labor for the size of your project. I will then take into consideration what materials I will have to buy and how long it will take me to complete the request. I try not to charge full price for labor. I just want adequate compensation for my time. I know what it’s like to be a homeowner and get a quote well beyond my budget. My goal is to price the job in a way to where we both walk away satisfied.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I would like to assess the work that needs done, what your goals, expectations, and price range are. I will take some measurements, make notes of anything important to the project, and request a moment to calculate and accurately bid the job. Moving forward I will be very clear about my availability and the estimated timeline to complete the project.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I’ve known the basics of painting for approximately 6 years. I learned how to paint when I was 15, by a family member who owned their own painting company located in Grand Rapids, MI. I’m a first year apprentice as a Commercial Painter in the union. I have been with this union since August. I have mandatory training classes that I attend and will be attending for the next 2-3 years outside of on the job training. I have been studying Building Technology at New Castle School of Trades which is a 15 month program. I’m in my last quarter. (2 months left). I’ll graduate with an Associates Degree in Applied Science. These are the certifications I have: OSHA 10 ICRA First Aid & CPR Mobile Elevating Work Platform Operator
