Introduction: I strive for perfection in makeup application. As a licensed medical aesthetician and internationally trained and certified makeup artist I have extensive experience understanding the anatomy, color, lighting, undertones, overtones, texture (the skin) which are key elements for a flawless makeup application. Everything. There is something very rewarding being able to work in the world of art. Being a makeup artist allows me to challenge my skills and training. I learn something new everyday. And, by teaching make up and special effects allows the imagination to soar. As my father has taught me art all my life, it is a natural process for me to teach others. I feel blessed to share what I have learned with students as they build their own careers in the makeup industry.

I met Carolyn through her makeup course that I found online and I was instantly drawn to her. She had such a hands on, attentive approach to teaching and she took a genuine personal interest in each and every student which is very hard to find in any type of instructor. Since then, she has opened herself to helping me progress into different levels of transitioning me into a career as a makeup artist and more recently helped me with understanding photography and the important role in plays in being a makeup artist. With photography she has shown me how to think and create work from the perspective of both an artist and a photographer in order to better my craft. In a short period of time Carolyn has encouraged me to open myself up and tap into skills as a makeup artist I never knew I had. I am so thankful to have found her!

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I keep my pricing for classes quite simple. If working on a film one has to consider time, the price of your kit (makeup kit) used on set, travel, paying assistants.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I'm always learning. I attend seminars, makeup classes, art classes, and practice...practice, practice. As artists may we never stop learning. I'm always teaching classes and working on new curriculum. I'm also working with a producer/director on a feature film coming this summer 2015. We are discussing budget now...his cost to produce film. The cost for actors, wardrobe, makeup, crew, travel, locations...the list goes on.
How did you get started doing this type of work?
It was by chance. I was working in the corporate world when I had been diagnosed with breast cancer for the second time. I knew then that the stress from the corporate world was not good for my health. I needed a career change. I had always loved skincare so I went to school during my treatments to become a medical aesthetician. Makeup was always something I did for pleasure and my client base just started growing rapidly. I love what i do and have never looked back.
