Introduction: North Pittsburgh Animal Behavior is committed to providing high quality, affordable dog training to Pittsburghers and their pets. Group classes are held at our facility in Gibsonia, numerous veterinary clinics, as well as in Allegheny County Parks. The bulk of our work is done in the client's home, giving a one-on-one experience where we thrive on getting to know our clients and their pets. We take an overall approach to your pet, your lifestyle, and what you and your dog need from one another. Beth McGonigal is a certified professional dog trainer through the Certification Council of Professional Dog Trainers, a proud member of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers as well as the Pet Professional Guild. Beth is a mentor trainer for CATCH Canine Trainers Academy and is a Certified Evaluator for AKC's Canine Good Citizen & STAR Puppy programs. Beth has also served as an expert witness in cases of dog neglect, abuse and forensics. She has 10 years experience, relationships with many local shelters & rescue groups & a passion for pets & their humans. Beth claims she has the absolute best job in the world, and while not always easy, it is always rewarding. The human animal bond is one to be celebrated & enjoyed, and is our goal with each of our clients. Beth is committed to a force-free, positive reinforcement based approach which is family friendly & dog friendly.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Initial in home consults are two hours in length and $150. For some clients, this is all that is needed for minor behavior issues. For in home basic training and behavior modification, various packages are available to suit your needs. Private consults are available at our training location for a discounted rate of $125 for two hours. Class fees vary depending on the type of class.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Upon receiving your information, you will be contacted via phone or email to discuss your pet's needs. If the client and trainer feel they are a good match, an initial consultation will be arranged either in the pets home or at our training facility. If the dog is coming to a group class, the owner will attend a general orientation night at the first week of class.
