- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I belong to groomer's email lists and forums online for continuing education. I also go to groomer's conferences and seminars as often as possible. I also belong to a pet retailer's email list and am a member of the Pet Industry Retailer's Association to keep informed about new pet products and pet foods available, as well as keeping informed of any changes or recalls on current products.
- Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?
I recently went to a local shelter on my day off, to shave down a severely matted dog that had been surrendered by the owner. The poor dog looked like his feet were about 3 times the size they really are because the matting was so bad there. He also reeked of urine because his matts were soaked in it, and his skin was tender underneath it all. He was actually matted all over, making it difficult to shave without injury. Luckily he was such a sweetheart, he let me work on him without incident. I'm sure his skin hadn't felt fresh air in a long time. I told the shelter to call me after he'd been seen by the vet and neutered so that I could give him a real grooming rather than just shave off the mats. I'd love to see this little guy go to a great home.....he deserves it.
