Many instructors are well studied in music theory and performance and are able to teach and display these fine attributes. Lou Pompilio however, practices his art on an entirely different level. There is a monumental difference between very good and great. Lou is beyond great. His ability, as an instructor, is to not only transmit his immense body of musical knowlege, but to recognize and empower his students to fully discover and develop their own unique musical gift and style. Furthermore, any student of voice and string who is in need of inspiration need only watch and listen to Lou as a performing musician. This is an unforgettable experience. One of the greatest gifts I've ever had is the opportunity to be his student. Lou is a once in a lifetime artist and human being, RUN, do not walk, to his studio.

I signed up with Lou originally because I wanted to learn from someone who really knows music theory. I found that knowledge in Lou and also got a teacher who is patient and easy going. I appreciate that Lou is conscious of how much you can handle in a weekly assignment - his goal is for you to enjoy what you're doing. If you're not enjoying the process (even if the assignment is difficult), something is wrong. I've been taking lessons from Lou for almost two years and have learned so much. Like many, I learned how to chord Folk and popular music in the 60's. Lou has upped my game with more complex Jazz chords, rhythms and leads, and no matter which style I might now choose to play, my music sounds better, fuller and richer. I would highly recommend Lou as an instructor for kids or adults, beginners to advanced.

Lou is the consummate professional when it comes to all aspects of music.Along with being a great guitarist and teacher he is also well versed in writing and arranging music.As a teacher he is dedicated to his students education. I would recommend him to teach any student that wants to learn the right way!!

I am going on my second month of guitar lessons as a beginner. In this short period of time I have learned so much from Lou about playing guitar. When I started I did not even know how to read the notes. Now I do, Lou is always courteous, fun, and very informative. He goes above and beyond as an instructor. He is patient and teaches at the appropriate level without rushing. He always offers to answer questions if needed during the week in between the lessons. He is very talented and it is so apparent that he loves what he does. Lou is an outstanding instructor and I would proudly recommend him to others looking to learn to play the guitar.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I teach intermediate to advanced. I teach students theory, harmony, to read music and develop their ear. I expect all students to practice regularly.
