Here are three recommended questions you should ask when embarking on your search for the perfect wedding entertainment director: 1. Who will the actual DJ be? May I select the DJ or will one be assigned? May I meet my selected DJ before signing a contract? By selecting and interviewing the DJ for your event you can avoid awkwardly meeting a complete stranger on the day of your event. Make certain your DJ's name and contact information is on your contract before you sign anything! If the company you are speaking with is unwilling to list your DJ's name on their contract, then they are not willing to guarantee who will actually be the DJ at your event. 2. What can you tell me about the DJs wedding experience? Nearly every DJ has a section of their web site with testimonials written by their previous clients. But ask yourself, do these people really exist? Some companies will also encourage their potential clients to "drop in" at one of their scheduled events to get a twenty minute glimpse of the DJ in action. Keep in mind, any company that will offer this to YOU may offer the same opportunity to someone else on YOUR day. By inviting a potential client to an event, the DJ may be inclined to split their attention between fulfilling their current client's wishes and "auditioning" for the potential client. To avoid "crashing" someone else's event, you should have the opportunity to speak with that specific DJs previous clients. Speaking with someone who has used the actual DJ you selected can provide you with all the unbiased answers you need to make a well-informed decision. 3. Can the DJ help in the entertainment planning? You should have an email address and telephone number that connects you directly with your DJ. By keeping the lines of communication open with your selected DJ (via telephone, email, or face-to-face consultations), you can share your vision of your day, consider your professionals' ideas and experience, and work in a concerted effort to deliver the kind of event your friends and family will appreciate and completely enjoy!
