Sorry this pro can’t do your job, but we know other pros who can.
Introduction: I regard pet sitting as a profession, not as a "fun job". This means that when I enter a client's home, I treat it as my workplace. I care for my client's pets not only as if they were my own, but as a combination of client, patient, child, and precious commodity. I improve my human clients' lives by giving them the freedom to get away from home without worrying about their pets. I improve the lives of my animal clients by keeping them happy, stimulated, busy, healthy, and calm while their humans must be away from them. As the owner of multiple, rescued pets, I find it very difficult to travel away from home for any length of time. Thus, I have missed many important events with my family, and I have not traveled for pleasure for many years. My job as a professional pet sitter lets me give other pet owners the ability to travel, attend family events, and work long hours without needing to worry about the health, welfare, and happiness of their pets. My business gives pet owners a way to enjoy full lives without compromising their pets' well-being.

Kerry did an amazing job with our dog Bailey. She sent updates and pictures every day we were gone. Made it easier to leave him with someone who cares so much about animals. Next time we go away we are less stressed knowing we can call her to care for him!

My dog trainer arrived at my home and took her time to become acquainted with my puppy. She was very thorough in telling me how our lessons would be and a future lesson was scheduled without a problem. She also listened to my concerns and gave valuable input.

Kerry Kreuger came to my son's house in South Side Pittsburgh to walk his dog while he attended his grandmother's funeral. She was prompt, professional, and personable. She updated my son via texting about the walk experience. In a word, she was fabulous, and my son intends to use her services in the future.

Kerry has been pet sitting for me for several months now. She accommodates my odd work schedule, always keeps me updated and is really great with helping to socialize my new puppy with my adult dog. She enforces my rules with the dogs, really understands canine behavior. Kerry makes sure the dogs get exercise and play time and plenty of human attention. I highly recommend her to anyone with a bully breed dog. She really knows her stuff!

Kerry is absolutely fantastic, when I first starting using her I had a golden retriever named Jake he was 8 years old and I wanted someone to go play with him while my husband and I worked. Well needless to say Jake absolutley loved her and I could tell the change in him almost immediately, he was more relaxed when we arrived home. Unfortunately Jake passed away suddenly and now I have a 11 month old Golden retriever named Reggie that Kerry also takes care of. She has been with him since he was just a tiny pup and he also loves her like crazy. She is awesome with my Reggie, she loves animals and it shows in the care my little guy gets from her. My husband and I would reccomend her to anyone, shes flexible with scheduling, very professional, trustworthy in our home, and not to mention my Reggie just adores her. Im sure your pet will feel the same way. I was recommended by a co worker to try her and to be honest I actually got a friend out of the deal too! Kerry has made my life alot easier while im working, I know my dog is getting playtime and attention so it makes for a more relaxed workday, she is such a kind person and Im actually thankful we have her!!

FAQs

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

My goal when working with a new pet sitting client is to provide pets with care that mimics what those pets receive from their people. This approach gives pet owners the opportunity to go away on vacations, work long hours, or attend to family obligations without guilt or worry for leaving pets alone.

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I am certified by the American Red Cross in Pet First Aid, and I have completed the ARC's course in Pet CPR (no certification is offered for Pet CPR due to the differences in sizes and types of pets). I belong to Pet Sitters International, which avails me of the latest developments in pet sitting and dog walking. This organization offers networking with fellow pet professionals, who are a terrific resource for troubleshooting and discussing issues with clients and their pets. I belong to the Association of Pet Dog Trainers, which gives me access to the combined knowledge and experience of hundreds of professional dog trainers. I participate in several Web-based educational groups including: DogRead (discusses a different dog-related book monthly with topics ranging from canine nutrition and behavior to managing multiple dog households and choosing the right puppy from a breeder or shelter) PSI's monthly teleconferences (presents timely topics important to the pet sitting profession such as setting service rates, providing service for complicated pet sitting assignments, and meeting the needs of pets with special medical requirements.

  • What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

Pet sitting is not simple, and it's not a responsibility that a pet owner should entrust to neighborhood children, neighbors, or family members. Neighbors are unlikely to gather important details about your pet such as dietary needs, likes and dislikes, and behavioral idiosyncracies. Local kids will probably feed your cats, but they may not spend the time necessary to calm your feline and discover your cat's daily needs for mental well-being. Family members don't carry liability insurance, and many don't know how to handle emergencies with your pet that might require veterinary intervention or have long-lasting consequences for you and your pet.
