I am an aspiring children's book author and illustrator. Leslie was very generous in offering her time to coach me in her knowledge of the publishing industry. She provided a wealth of information drawn from many years of "hands on" on experience in the industry. I consider Leslie an expert coach in regards to writing, working with publishers and the editing process, networking, sales, strategic planning, event and resume building, and marketing. Other items Leslie helped me with involved building a clear mission statement and philosophy for my book series, the importance of conducting market research for advantage, web site building, social media and the use of youtube, and establishing connections through active marketing. Leslie also critiqued my books and provided valuable feedback. Her feedback involved ways to improve my illustrations, and introducing more character dialogue into my stories. Her tips have been instrumental in the improvement of my books, marketing, and writing style. The coaching offered by Leslie laid out the fundamental building blocks to design and implement a strategic plan for my business. I use her tips and core principles as a continuing guide and source of encouragement. At the start, I aim to establish rapport to ensure a comfortable and trusted working relationship. I then ask for the needs and wants of a client, while identifying priorities. This casual interview process leads to a detailed description of the requested project. I then compile and share a specific outline or plan to detail the process and timing to complete the requested service.
