FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I understand computer repair pricing can be difficult. It's hard to know exactly what is wrong with your computer to be able to tell that to a technician. I believe in having a low diagnostic charge ($20) so I can find out exactly what is wrong with your system. I then apply that low charge to the repair of the issues with your approval. The only reason I charge a diagnostic fee is that not everyone decides to have a computer repaired. I believe that when you are good at something you should be paid for your knowledge & time.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am a member of the Association of Computer Repair Business owners. We trade tips and tricks to keep ourselves up to date in the ever changing world of technology. I am also always testing new products and playing around with the latest and greatest in technological wonders. Computer repair is more then a career for me, it is also my hobby and something I have enjoyed for many years.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I've always been into computers and technology since a very early age. When my father brought our first computer home (a Packard Bell) instead of hooking it up I took it apart to find out what was inside and how it worked. I spent many years fixing computers for friends and family before going to work as an in home repair agent for Geek Squad the 24 hour computer support task force company that is partnered with Best Buy. I then left to work full time as an IT Director for a local technology company. I then started NEPA Geeks to finally fulfill the dream I had when I was a 13 year old little geek getting his first computer with a 2600 baud modem and connecting to the information super highway. I've always had the tech knowledge and the values my parents installed in me to treat people the way I would want to be treated.
