FAQs
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Yes. I practice almost daily, I continually expand my repertoire. I follow the latest news in bagpiping.
- What types of customers have you worked with?
The majority of service that I provide is for weddings and funerals. Some common musical arrangements are processing before the bridal party; processing before the bride; playing at the altar before the ceremony; processing out before the bride and groom; and playing as the guests leave the chapel area. For funerals, common musical arrangements are processing before the coffin; playing at the altar or funeral parlor before the service; playing at the end of the service; and playing at the grave site, as the family arrives and departs.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
There are a lot of talented bagpipe players in Pittsburgh. Don't let a litany of competitions and awards intimidate you into overpaying for a musician. Also consider the musician's experience. Being a successful competitor demonstrates musical proficiency, but having extensive experience in a wide range of situations provides a professionalism that only years of experience can instill in a bagpiper.
