FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Yes, by law all notarizations in the State of New York are $2 each with little exception (there is an obscure/outdated protest that is different) and notaries are permitted to charge a fee for traveling. My services are traveling notary only; customers interested in $2 notarizations are encouraged and recommended to drop into their local notary public during regular operating hours. My services are designed to cater to clients looking for a mobile notary to meet them on-demand, outside of normal working hours. My minimum travel fee is $35 for this service. The actual travel cost for your job will be quoted contingent upon time, distance, location and other factors. Please be advised that all charges outside of the state mandated $2 notary fee are for the service of mobilizing to meet with you and the time and resources spent in doing so.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I typically prefer to meet with clients at an open and public space, such as their local Coffee Shop or a restaurant in the area. I find that doing so put all parties at ease and really creates a semi-private experience. When the document requires more discretion, I enjoy sitting with customers at home at their dinning room table. My process involves, discussing my travel fee and fees for notarization, sitting down with my client, reviewing the notary portion of a document or lack thereof, asking my client a few questions about the purpose (not the content) of their document/s, examining their photo ID, performing the notary act, using my app to process their payment, providing them with a detailed receipt, thanking my client and parting ways with a smile.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Yes aside from reading weekly news ledgers and daily industry related web posts/blogs on the notary field, I am a member of NYS Notary Association and receive notary law updates and refresher training on a regular basis. Additionally, I am know as somewhat of a notary "Guru" on notary rules and practices in Pennsylvania. In PA not only am I a member of PAN and receive their monthly notary update newsletter but there notaries are required to re-educate every 4 years when renewing their commission. My experience and knowledge from being commission in 2 very different states, along with my vast experience with international document matter is what sets me apart in the industry.
