We had unexpected and significant plumbing issues two weeks before closing on the sale of our house. The plumbers fixed the pipes but left 3 massive holes in the walls and ceiling. Bill came in and less than two days later it was like the holes were never there. He went above and beyond, primed over the water stains, even cleaned up the mess the plumbers left! Tim Taylor showed up for a scheduled appointment to plaster holes in our wall and abruptly, rudely walked off the job before even starting because he was asked to wear a mask. He was so adamant against wearing a mask that he didn't even hang around to discuss or offer alternate safety measures he'd be willing to take. This tells me he's going in and out of homes without any PPE (personal protective equipment) or intent to keep families (and himself) safe from COVID. This is concerning, considering Thumbtack's commitment to safety by "encouraging pros to review CDC safety guidelines and pledge to take preventive measures to limit their — and your — exposure to COVID-19, including: Maintaining 6 feet of distance from customers; Wearing cloth face covers during the job." If Tim didn't want to work while wearing a mask, he could have simply taken it off once he was 6 feet away from me, my husband, and our child. His outright refusal was unprofessional, irresponsible and unsafe. Show some respect for the households you enter during a pandemic. I will be spreading the word NOT to use his services because clearly the customer is not a priority for him.

David had agreed to repair my water damaged plaster wall and an exterior window starting at 7:30 am on Sept.10. Around 5pm on Sept. 9, since I did not receive any contract from David, I emailed him a contract outlining the scope of work, total cost, payments, and notes on how to deal with waste resulted from the job. At 7:50pm on Sept.9, David texted me he would not come the next day. I explained that I have lined up painting and post construction cleaning based on his completion of the repairs and asked to speak to him. All of these are scheduled for my move in to the house. I called twice no one picked up the phone. He called me back once but I missed the phone call. I called back within a few minutes and the phone call was not answered. Upon my request, he confirmed by text he was not coming to do the repair. There was no explicit explanation other than “he prefers to work with people who trust him”. I am not sure if that is referring to my request to sign a contract prior to the work or any items in the contract. I wish the best to both of us.
