FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Most jobs run $80 per hour, but price can be negotiated under certain circumstances (i.e., a small business is getting started, a non-profit really doesn't have much in its marketing budget, etc.). It doesn't hurt to ask about price, because that means we're talking and moving toward something mutually beneficial. Also, unless you are an established client of mine, rush jobs or last-minute weekend jobs are subject to a 25% mark-up. I'll move heaven and earth to make your deadline, but sometimes a kid's soccer game or concert is going to be my first priority. All invoices are also to be paid within 30 days of receipt.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I usually make initial contact via e-mail or phone call, then I'll travel to a customer's home or place of business to discuss the scope of the project and the initial benchmarks to be hit.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
• Bachelor's in Journalism • Master's in Corporate Communication/Marketing • 13 years' experience as an award-winning technical marketing communications writer • 6 years' experience as a major accounts writer for an advertising/marketing services agency • 3 years' experience as an independent freelance writer for several Pittsburgh ad agencies and their various clients, an international energy corporation, an international simulation software design firm, and many other companies — including a major premium greeting cards company
