Introduction: My work stands out from others because of my art background and my desire to try new things during the shoot and in editing. I try to get to know my clients personalities and use my skills to communicate that through my photos. To capture a comprehensive overview of a wedding day, a photographer must combine many styles of shooting (documentary/candid, traditional, naturalistic) to really showcase everything that happened, and we strive to demonstrate this ability in our work. When I witness how excited and grateful my clients are about their photos. It's such a fulfilling career to be able to use my love of art and creating beautiful images to provide such a special service to my clients.

Do not use this photographer if you do not want last minute stress for your wedding! She told us when we signed our contract that if we only wanted one photographer (which we did) she would be the one to do our wedding photos. A week before the wedding she informed us that due to circumstances out of her control she would not be shooting our wedding, but Adam, who we'd never met, would be. She was not willing to work with us at all on this change. She made it clear that because it "wasn't under her control" we just had to deal with it and she would not make any efforts to make up for it (I suggested sending him early so we could get used to him), but she would not go along with any of it. The change was handled very unprofessionally. Finally we did get our deposit back, and were able to find another photographer, but it was definitely not what I needed a week before my wedding.

Unfortunately this review is only half true. This client signed a contract stating that "one photographer" would be shooting her wedding, and not specifically Christine Hlad. She sent me ranting email after email extremely unpleased that Adam would be the photographer for her day. She made no such suggestion about sending him earlier, or even cared to meet him. It was apparent that she wouldn't be happy, and we offered her a full deposit back, that ended up including free engagement photos, and she quickly agreed, as she had already found another photographer. It was obviously all about the money, as Adam and I both have an impressive body of work and 5 star reviews that demonstrate our abilities. In the end I am happy that we did not ended up working with this client as I am positive she would have found some issue with our work.

Christine and her husband are fantastic! My husband and I planned the wedding from out of town and Christine was very easy to work with from afar. We met her for the first time doing our engagement photos and she was just what we were hoping for in a photographer - friendly, energetic and packed with ideas for beautiful and unique shots. We were thrilled with our engagement photos, and the turn around time to get them (I think it was less than two weeks). Christine and her husband photographed our wedding, and I think both did an excellent job. They were on time, checked in with us regularly to make sure all of our photo requests were met, and they even stayed late (after checking with us) to capture some extra reception party shots. Christine also did a great job wrangling our massive families for group photos. We love the photos - again, Christine took our location ideas and turned them into some very unique pictures. The wedding photos took about 5 weeks to turn around, which was right in the ballpark of what Christine had promised. Overall, we were very pleased with Christine's service and work and would highly recommend!

Christine and Adam were absolutely FANTASTIC! They were so easy to work with and very creative. They understood our time constraints and helped to keep photos moving quickly while still ensuring high quality shots. I have been in weddings where the photographer was a source of stress for the wedding party and Christine and Adam were anything but. We had a blast taking photographs, which usually isn't the case. Lastly, and most importantly, the photos turned out AMAZING! One was better than the next and they just kept coming. We are going to have a very difficult time choosing ones to print and frame! What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
We do offer discounts during some winter months (Jan-March) and Friday night and Sunday weddings.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Generally we will set up a consultation either through phone or in person. During this meeting, we will discuss your style, the timeline process for your wedding, and offer any suggestions and answer questions that you might have. If you feel we are a good fit together, we can move forward on the contract, and a $250.00 deposit will secure our services for your date.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
My degree is in Art Education from the Ohio State University, with a focus on photography and painting. In addition to photography, Christine Hlad is also a visual art teacher.
