Introduction: I have studied in NYC with some of the best vocal coaches from Broadway to opera. From those studies I have performed in professional musical theatre, dinner theatre, a cappella jazz octets, rock bands, orchestra concerts and full operas. I tell my students that they need to be able to sing all styles of music. There is more work in being diverse. Some of my students have been on Broadway, worked for Cirque Du Soleil and Disney. Other students are recording on independent record labels. What I like most about teaching is looking at the faces of my students when they've made a break thru in their breathing technique or have mastered a musical phrase that has been giving them trouble or better yet, when they've reached high notes that they thought they could never reach.

My son, who has Down Syndrome, contacted Tom on his own since he wanted to take voice lessons. I then spoke personally to Tom and my son began his voice lessons. Tom has been outstanding. He has incredible skills as a vocal coach as well as amazing "people" skills. Nick has already learned a great deal from Tom and he came to Tom with no singing skills. On top of what he is learning, Tom is building my son's self esteem. I always kid that my son leaves his vocal lesson with Tom, a few inches taller!

Being i have no previous singing experience whatsoever and was rather self conscious Tom quickly provided an atmosphere in which I was able be at ease and not feel so self conscious. Being I am not a young man and coming into this whole new world which for so many years I desired to engage in, Tom helped me get pass the nervousness and actually see that with certain techniques that he demonstrated to me I can begin to actually sound decent. Im looking forward to future lessons and sincerely recommend anyone that wants to learn no matter your previous level of experience you will surely come away better than you went in. It is very evident that Tom is very knowledgeable in this truly incredible field of vocal training. I cant wait to see and hear how i improve as time goes by.

Tom is a really wonderful teacher for those who are looking to improve their vocal skills. One of my favorite things about him is how nicely he is able to strike a balance between being tough and encouraging. He will not let a mistake slide, but that is because he demands excellence of all of his students. Despite being meticulous he is also very nice and personable and makes you feel great when you make it "over the hill" and accomplish the challenges he sets before you. One key thing to note is that Tom understands the music as well as the singing, some vocal instructors only know how to sing. As a pianist it was important to me that I learn in a way that is sound musically and not just about vocal technique.

After just 2 lessons with Tom, I can honestly admit that I made the right choice. Not only is Tom an outstanding vocal coach, but he's also a a great guy! This is all new to me; singing in front of anything but the shower curtains was a mere dream, or nightmare rather. But this man, in just 2 lessons, has given me the tools to build a strong foundation. From which, I can grow and flourish comfortably. While Tom may be outgoing, easy to get along with, and generous, he's no pushover; He shows you what you need to do, how you need to do it, and why you need to do it. If you don't succeed, he will point out your mistakes and help you overcome every obstacle. In summary, Tom is just as much a professional, intelligent vocal teacher as he is a welcoming, charismatic character. I would recommend Tom as not only a vocalist, but as a friend and a mentor. I look forward to every moment I get to spend with this man! Not just because he makes you want to sing, but he finds his way into your heart and it brings much joy. Thank you very much Tom!

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
My standard pricing is as follows: $35 per half hour session $70 per hour session
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I take into consideration how old a student is and whether or not they've ever had lessons before. After I have heard a student sing, I assess what needs to be kept and discarded from their technique. I immediately teach them how to breathe correctly and incorporate exercises that can help each student increase control with their phrasing, volume and increase their range.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I continue to be coached by the best coaches in NYC and take classes at The Juilliard School.
