Introduction: Hello and Sa Waa Dee,
My name is Nonthaporn. Most people call me “Pum,” or “Pummy,” for short. I am a Thai native, born and raised in Bangkok; but have been in the United States now several years. I do graphic and web design under the name "PassivePunk Designs" and custom handmade crafts through my business "Saan Sen."
With my designs and products, I try to blend traditional Thai themes with contemporary styles. Thai culture is centered on serenity. love, and respect for family and history. Thai patterns and color schemes emphasize these concepts while, at the same time, are bold and rich. I hope to catch people's attention with the uniqueness of Thai design, even if they've been previously exposed to Asian styles.
Being experienced with different design requests, whether its format, media, or art style, I have the creative ability to meet the needs of a client. I've worked with individuals, small business owners, and academic institutions, on projects from start to finish, working independently or as part of a team. Whatever your vision is, I can help you realize it.
Since I was a child, I liked to get hands on with paints, paper, and wood. Since then, with each step in my journey, I have been excited to learn different design styles and utilize different techniques and media. I love helping someone see the beauty in art, or to achieve their artistic vision. And with my new business Saan Sen, I am motivated to create designs and products that represent a balance between old and new art influences, using different media. In Thai, Saan means “merge,” “join,” or “weave;” while Sen means “line” or “filament.” Combining these two words together, for me, represents how all ideas become visualized, manifested through lines, doodles, and scribbles that come together into a cohesive image. Or how one combines materials into one piece. But, also at the heart of my creative efforts, I know that I am highlighting, and, to an extent, preserving the beauty and significance of traditional Thai art and culture.
