Introduction: I'm a reading and writing tutor for elementary students. I became a tutor after seeing my oldest son struggle with reading for years. I wanted to help children who are struggling to learn in a different way than what is sometimes taught in school. I have been tutoring students who have difficulty in reading by using the Orton-Gillingham and Wilson Reading approaches for four years. These are systematic, phonetic approaches to reading that introduce the sounds in our language, and we build on that learning to improve reading and spelling especially for children with a diagnosed reading disability. Any student who is struggling to read will benefit from private tutoring.
