A C Landscaping was hired to remove snow from my driveway sidewalk and walkways during the 2 storms we had in February of 2017 in Belmont. I was pleasantly surprised to find that they performed in a highly professional manner as evidenced by their removing all the snow. I believe that the Owner has a very strong work ethic and is very responsive to customer needs. I definitely intend to use them again in the future as the need arises. Brendan V. This was a great experience. I called them and they came over on a Tuesday to give a quote and we're back two days later to start the job. They went beyond the work and quality I was expecting. They cleaned up their work and finished everything in the two days they quoted. I had 7 doors and trims painted plus plaster on a wall with a new slider that another contractor left unfinished. I have already spoke with them to help on 2 more jobs I am planning to do. As a single person with no family to help me I am thrilled to have someone I know I can call to get a variety of work done. Five Stars!

My walkway from the driveway to the front step had loose flagstones and missing flagstones, and the job was to fill in the cement depressions where the missing flagstones had been and to secure or remove and fill in for loose flagstones, including on the step, and also to fill in cracks. Douglas came right on time both to meet with me about an estimate and to do the job. He was very pleasant to deal with. There was no mess at all after the job was done. The repair looks like it will last a long time. One of the goals was keep snow or water from forming ice in the missing flagstones areas to avoid slipping there, and another goal was to ease shoveling by having a more even surface; shoveling after the recent snowstorm was much easier.

I hired Dan tonight to plow my driveway and clear the walkway and steps following the storm. He responded to my quote request on Thumbtack within minutes. I was stuck at work all evening and was unable to shovel. He promptly arrived at my house and called me at work with a quote. Very grateful to come home to a clear driveway and entryway, and glad I didn't have to start shoveling at 11pm! Dan was efficient and friendly, and I will absolutely be calling him again. THANK YOU, DAN!

Claudio Brisola of Fama Masonry and his workers did extensive masonry removal and and pouring of concrete walkways, 2 large retaining walls, front stair repair and asphalt/driveway removal with concrete driveway replacement at my home in Medford, Ma. Fama Masonry is a fantastic company to work with! Claudio came out to give a free estimate and we reviewed all the options. Price was a factor and we needed to negotiate the job to fit our budget. Claudio was able to do that without compromising the quality of workmanship. We had the walkway done first and after completion, discussed and agreed to work on the front do the home where the bigger, more extensive work was needed; i.e 2 retaining walls taken down and repoured/structured, repair in the garage of the floor, removal and pouring of new driveway. The site was clean after each day. The men were courteous and hard working. Claudio was available by phone if needed and came by in person several times throughout the entire project to ensure we were happy with the work and the job was on task and on time. Clean up was cleared out by a company contracted by Claudio and that went smoothly. Work was completed in the time we had agreed with 100+% satisfaction. I would highly recommend Fama Masonry to anyone who needs masonry help - from small or big projects!!

We requested an estimate to replace our ugly front concrete step as well as fixing up our chimney. Justin was quick to respond and give us some suggestions and an estimate. He was able to get started pretty quickly and transformed our step into a lovely bluestone step with stone veneers for a reasonable price. Our chimney needed a lot of work, he let us know everything that needed to be done and got it in great shape. He gave us some ideas and estimates for other projects we are interested in, and if we decide to get those done or any other future masonry projects I wouldn’t hesitate to hire Justin again.

I had an older concrete walkway and stairs that were flaking and in bad need of repair. Mike proposed a solution of covering up the concrete with blue stone at a very affordable price. He did the work on time and it turned out great. In addition to great craftsmanship, he called when he said he would , showed up when he said he would and always had time to answer my questions. I plan on using his services again in the spring on some other project that I need done.

I was preparing my house for sale and I needed a number of repairs made to boost my sale price. I hired Mr. Paolino to rebuild and paint my front porch, repair my concrete walkway and assess and repair my roof and my chimney. All of these projects were completed on budget and within my tight time frame. They were in and out and left my property clean for my showings.

Great job at a great price. I love the retaining wall and concrete walk Fernando and the team at Disere construction did at my home. I needed a retaining wall to keep water from running into my driveway, even in the dead of winter they came out and built more than just a functioning wall, they created art! We couldn't be happier!

I was extremely impressed with Junielson and his team. They replaced our backyard fence and installed a patio for us. Despite both projects being more difficult than expected (there was a surprising amount of large rocks and concrete buried in the yard), they pushed through without complaint and worked late to make up for lost time. They are hard workers, reasonably priced, and delivered quality work. I recommend them highly.

We are a General Contractor, JTB Construction, with a commercial project in Taunton. The night before a scheduled "pour" our concrete subcontractor had to cancel due to health issues. We found Steven through Thumbtack and he responded immediately, and the pour was done "on schedule". His promptness saved the project's schedule. The quality of his work was exceptional. We would highly recommend him and plan to continue to use his services.

Wanderson is a Godsend! I am an 84 year old widower living in the Worcester MA area that called 4 other contractors to come clean the three feet of snow off my roof and the HUGE ice damns I had. The best answer I got from these contractors was 'we can be there in a 7-10 days at the earliest.' Wanderson had a five man crew at my home, up on the roof, and finished with the entire job (including cleaning up my walkways and driveway) by the end of the day after I called him!!! I'm sure he prioritized his current jobs to put me at the head of the list. I can't say enough about this dedicated young man and his subcontractors. I highly recommend him!

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How do you find a good concrete contractor?

Concrete contractors pave driveways, build foundations for homes, install retaining walls, create hardscaping for front and back yards, build concrete steps, and so much more. When searching for a driveway contractor, read reviews from previous customers and ask for referrals. Ask the contractor for photos of examples of their work that’s similar to what you want. Confirm they will get the proper permits so your driveway is up to code. Hiring a driveway contractor to install concrete can average $5-$6 per square foot, or more, depending on where you live, the slope and grade of the driveway site, and regional labor costs. For a new asphalt driveway, the cost could average from $3-5 per square foot. A standard concrete driveway of 500 square feet averaging $5-$6 per square foot would cost $2,500-$3,000 — so it pays to research someone who will do quality work. Excavation and grading work can increase your cost per square foot significantly. Ask whether the contractor provides a materials and labor warranty for their work. Some cracking of the concrete may occur as it settles, but you should talk with your contractor about any structural or aesthetic concerns you have. When hiring a concrete contractor, check out our tips for smart hiring on Thumbtack.

    What do paving contractors do?

Paving contractors can be hired to install a concrete or asphalt driveway at your home, office or property. They can also repave an asphalt or concrete driveway that has been damaged by time, weather or heavy loads. When you are looking for a driveway contractor, request quotes from at least three professionals who are in good standing and have great customer reviews. They should do a site visit and write you a bid, detailing the work involved, materials needed, approximate length of the project and estimated cost.

The site for your new driveway will determine costs and the work required for your contractor. First, the ground must be excavated to lay a clear path. This means removing any trees, bushes and stumps. Next, the driveway contractor will grade the area, making a level surface for the concrete or asphalt. To ensure proper drainage, driveway contractors should install a sub-base of compacted gravel (or similar) 4 inches-8 inches deep, depending on your soil type. Then the concrete or asphalt may be poured and smoothed over the top. Your driveway contractor should recommend an appropriate sealant for your climate and advise you on curing time. When hiring a paving contractor, check out our tips for smart hiring on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost to redo a concrete driveway?

Replacing or renovating a damaged or time-worn asphalt or concrete driveway can boost your curb appeal and add to your home value. If your concrete driveway is nearing 20 years or more, it may be wise to invest in an entirely new driveway, instead of redoing your current one. Asphalt driveways average 15-20 years of life, so if you start needing major repairs around the 15 year mark, weigh the pros and cons of repairing or replacing it. Request bids from two to three driveway contractors to determine pricing and project scope, and check out our tips for smart hiring on Thumbtack. Here are some examples of average costs:

    • The national average cost to hire a concrete specialist is $2,750, but that price can vary greatly depending on the work needed to repair and resurface your concrete driveway, the square footage of the project, current costs of concrete, and regional labor rates.
    • Driveway contractors average $2-$3 per square foot to smooth and resurface your asphalt driveway.
    • Resurfacing concrete driveways averages $3-$10 per square foot. Pricing can depend on repairs needed, project size and geographic location.
    • Nationally, the average cost for resurfacing a 500-square-foot driveway ranges from $2,000 to $5,000.
    • Sealant for a concrete drive can cost $20-$80 per gallon.
    • Sealant for an asphalt drive averages 25 cents per square foot.
Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
