I was petrified the first day that I headed for voice lessons with Joel. I just did not know what to expect. What if I had zero talent? What if I could not follow his guidance? etc. Experience has shown Joel to be the most accommodating (although still requesting of genuine efforts), concerned, kind, capable and PATIENT instructor of all. I now am terribly lighthearted when heading to my voice lessons, which have now become my most favorite time slots. And, I feel a strong sense of accomplishment, worthiness and even empowerment as my singing improves.

Joel has been teaching my 9 year old son for about a year and a half. He's an excellent teacher; patient, thorough, knowledgable, organized, but also jovial and pleasant. We've enjoyed having Joel as our sons teacher.

FAQs

  • What types of customers have you worked with?

The bulk of my activity with my students is individual instruction. Your fee pays for your time slot each week where I dedicate my full attention to your educational needs. However, after you progress to the point where you may want to share your talents, I also help you find the venues and the opportunities where you can perform and get useful feedback and encouragement from others. It can be an exhilarating experience to perform. Of course, I never force anyone to do this, but it adds an incredibly rich dimension to your musical life.

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

I'm an independent music teacher who believes strongly in teaching proper technique and expression. I love to perform. I love what I do, but if I were to offer any advice to my potential clients it's simply this: I am dedicated to you and want you to succeed but I also earn a living from what I do. If we treat each right, it'll be a beautiful friendship!
