We hired Hidalgo to frame a childrens bedroom suite, to include a closet and 2 dividing walls (for privacy since 3 boys are sharing the space) inside of our great room. We could not be happier with their work. We screened several local contractors before making a decision to hire them to do the job. Christian and his team did exactly what we asked them to do and how we needed it done. Even our electricians commented on the quality of their work and asked for his contact information. They were great, and we will definitely be using them again for our additional remodel projects.

Details: No, the structure has not yet been built • Wall to an existing room • No existing plans, but have a good idea of what I want • No, everything is removed - I just need installation • No, I do not need plumbing or electrical lines installed • As recommended by carpenter • Home

I hired Hidalgo Homes after a vehicle had crashed through my fence, necessitating that an entire side of the fence be replaced. This fence was around 220 feet long, so it was a pretty big job to get completed. Of all the people who quoted me for the job, Christian was the only individual I did not have to constantly pester and badger about a meeting time, he was the only person who actually showed up at the time we agreed upon, and he had, by far, the best quote for labor and materials of anyone else. Picking him was an easy choice. And, in terms of the quality of work, Christian was great: the fence he built me was fantastic. Likewise, he was willing to make modifications to the project on the fly: we unexpectedly had a tree come down and needed to get someone in to remove it, leading us to conclude that we might want to have a gate large enough for a vehicle to enter in case another tree ever needed to be removed. Christian was able to build one custom, in the size I would need, and we decided to do it on the first day of the job. He was also flexible enough to work around the crew that was there to remove the tree. However, there were some negative experiences with the business. While I received a quote from Christian about the cost of materials for the project, at no point was I told that this quote was not actually a quote, but an estimate, that is, until the price for materials exceeded the amount quoted. I count this as a negative not because I wound up paying more than expected (though that is disappointing) but because I did not feel this was made clear to me in the beginning. Likewise, the crew installing the fence decided they needed to cut back some of the trees along the fence line, but never consulted (or even informed) me of the need; in one case, a tree was cut back so severely that there was nothing left but the trunk; I ultimately had to chop the trunk down. Again, I can understand the need to remove some of the foliage, but I would have preferred to have been told about it before someone took equipment to my landscape. Ultimately, what truly disappointed me about the job was the fact that it was left unfinished. The crew working on the fence left three separate piles of debris around my property. I alerted Christian to this fact as soon as it was noted, and I was consistently promised someone would be out “that day” or “that week,” but no one would ever show up to do anything about it. After four weeks of broken promises and being ghosted by Christian, I decided that I would have to finish the job for him and remove the debris myself; I can guarantee that, if I had not finished the job for him, the debris would still be there. I addition, I had to personally finish adjusting or actually installing some of the hardware on the gate. My overall evaluation of Hidalgo Homes is somewhat complicated: on the one hand, when it came to actually building the fence, I felt Christian and his crew did a great job, and I’ve had several compliments about the look of the fence, and even a couple of requests for who did such great work. However, I can’t give an unqualified positive recommendation, despite the quality of his work. Christian left the job unfinished, and I have no idea how much effort, if any, he actually put into getting his crew out to finish the job. The text messages I exchanged with him and his admitted embarrassment about leaving my property a mess were an acknowledgement that something had gone wrong, but the failure to follow through and fix the situation in anything approaching a timely manner simply cannot be overlooked. Given the value I got for the labor that was done, I can overlook not telling me the materials price was an estimate, not a quote, but I can’t overlook leaving me to finish the job. I haven’t been able to recommend Hidalgo Homes to my neighbors unreservedly, and I don’t think I can recommend them unreservedly here. Would I hire Hidalgo Homes again, knowing what I know now? I can’t say yes without carefully considering the circumstances of the job.

Details: Home • Replace fence or gate • Wood • 150 - 200 feet • 6 feet • No fence obstacles exist in the work area
