For 15 years, she’s been sharing her passion for music education, helping clients learn to sing their songs and love their voices – from Seattle to New York City to Atlanta. With a Master of Music degree in Jazz Vocal Performance from the prestigious Manhattan School of Music in NYC, her coaching is informed by Somatic Voicework™ methods, as well as her experiences as a performing artist and educator. Her teaching focus is on CCM (Contemporary Commercial Music) styles such as pop, rock, jazz, folk and original songs – and she believes in trusting her client’s creative voice to guide each session, encouraging their authentic and unique self to shine through. Courtney is a member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS), Voice Foundation, Voice & Speech Trainers Association (VASTA) and Somatic Voicework Teachers Association. She’s also an Apple Teacher and Certified Google Educator. Seadragon Songhouse was founded on a vision to help people free themselves. Too many of us are hiding our magical, creative ideas, believing that they’re undeserving of our full attention or validation. Too many of us have decided that we “can’t sing” or that our voices don’t matter. Too many of us have given up on our dreams and feel our artistic goals are trivial. However, we’re here to tell you: this just isn’t true. We know that singing and using our authentic voices is a very vulnerable act – but we also know how life-changing and empowering this journey can be! We believe that music helps people be better people – and that anyone can free their creative voice!

Singing Lessons

Courtney is a dream vocal teacher and instructor who incorporates so many elements that bring a whole-heartedness and well-roundedness to her sessions. I learned so much & on so many levels (physical and postural, emotional, spiritual, and more) - I'd 1000% recommend Courtney to anyone on their singing and songwriting journey and look to her as a great leader in this space. She really brings about nurturing, as well as lasering in on what aspects you want to really work on, even without being able to articulate it at first. She's kind of a mind reader. ;) Thanks again for the journey thus far, Courtney! I cannot wait to work with you again in the future!

Singing Lessons (for adults)

Courtney is a great voice teacher. She has a solid classical training background and is always actively performing around the city. This experience is seen in all of our lessons. Every lesson we spend 30 minutes on technique and 30 minutes on application. As a theatre artist who has always shied away from singing she has not only given me to the tools to rock a musical theatre audition, but also the confidence. She truly listens to your needs no matter your skill set or preferred genre of song. I have grown exponentially since I started learning from her.

Singing Lessons (for adults)

Courtney has been great! As a beginner, I have very much appreciated her ability encourage me and as well as create a comfortable environment. She's also been excellent at tailoring lessons to fit my goals and learning style, even when the goal is as simple as "be a better singer".
