- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
We do not have a complicated pricing system. We find out what the client needs are and what budget they have for it. Then we see what we can get the materials for that are grade satisfactory to the owner. We estimate the labor on the type and size of the project. No real science to it. Sometimes to stay in budget we will Value Engineer.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
That is a constant in this business products change just about yearly mostly for the better so in order to stay on top of the craft it is a must. The same is true of the local building codes or IBC. They continue to change and are different from county to county.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I started building housed at 18 years old with my uncle and it became a passion. Seeing that first house completed was like Christmas to me. I continued my career in the commercial industry. Building a few houses and additions along the way. The excitement never faded.
