About

A little about Jenny: A former vet tech and co founder of the Charleston Working Dog Club, I love animals of all shapes and sizes and have experience training and working with dogs of all temperaments and needs. I’ve always had a knack for making friends with even the most difficult animals, as I find that a lighthearted, happy demeanor, and patience are key. At BeastMode Dog Training, we specialize in training and environmental desensitization for young dogs (around 2 or less) and high drive/working breeds. Because we do this for the joy of being able to help create a stronger bond and understanding between dog and owner, we only take 1-2 board and train campers into our home at a time and limit our private lesson schedule to accommodate. We do an free evaluation of your dog to assess them and discuss any problems you are having or skills you’d like your dog to learn. At this time we can formulate a training plan and let you know what your best options are. We offer private lessons and board and train programs (like camp for your pup). These dogs are given 4 plus training sessions per day in addition to at least one excursion per day to work on distractions and environmental stimuli. When your pup comes to our camp, they become part of our very active world and the fun life that we lead. Lots of play and love are incorporated into our structured training environment. Training is fully customizable but our structured programs tend to include core obedience and manners along with addressing any problem behaviors and proofing in distracting environments or getting past fears. Upon graduation, you will be given one on one time with us and your dog, coaching you and showing you how to maintain the positive things he or she has learned with us. In addition, we provide you with all of the tools that we’ve used during your dog’s training, to help ensure continued success. Life long phone and text support as well as free coaching is also included. I could've written this review within the first 20 minutes of meeting Jenny and Morné. They came to our house and sat with me and my wife on our kitchen floor to talk about training and interacted with our Beagle Izzy for the first time. Honestly, there are no words I can write that will describe the experience that you and your dog will both gain by working with them. They are two wonderful human beings whose love and compassion for dogs is unmistakable. Fast forward...Izzy is back home and has a completely new set of skills thanks to Jenny and Morné that we are excited about continuing to develop! Previous bad behaviors (the humans fault) have been corrected and we now know how to address them should they arise in the future. From my own experience so far, a lot of having a well behaved dog is work! (go figure right?) Anything worth having is definitely worth working hard for and nice things cost money. This is 100% money well spent to have 2 awesome people with the knowledge that will not only work but also will love your dog the way you do while they have her. The transformation lasts forever.

Our circumstance dictated we get Claire, our Doberman, trained in certain behaviors in a short time frame. We were not sure it could be accomplished. Beastmode got it done! Jenny and Morne treated Claire as if she was their own. I will be using them for any and all training Claire's will need. They are AWESOME!

I have had German Shepherds all my life, but Maverick was the first one to be so challenging and willful. He is a smart dog and knows all his commands, but would only complete tasks on his terms, which was becoming frustrating for both of us. Then I found Jenny and Morne'. After just two weeks, Maverick returned home a completely changed dog. He is calmer and responds to commands. Morne' used clicker training, which I think was a very positive reinforcement and helped Maverick learn to focus. I admit I was apprehensive at first with the idea of Maverick leaving for 2 weeks. But, then I learned that he would actually be residing in the home with Jenny and Morne' and their family of children and dogs and not just kenneled. Morne' took him on daily outings to expose him to external distractions in order to teach him to focus on the handler and commands. When they returned Maverick to me, they spent time with me in order to explain and teach me how to handle Maverick. They stayed for awhile longer to observe Maverick and I in action and offered suggestions on how I could better work with Maverick. And, it was so obvious that both Jenny and Morne' love dogs. They are kind, positive, happy people who find pleasure in working with and training dogs. In reflecting back on the decision to move forward with this training, I have no regrets and am over the moon satisfied with the results.
