We had Metro Concrete install our carport and driveway. They did a great job for us at a competitive price. We have more work for them to do for us. I recommend Donnie and his company. They did the work as scheduled and at the price quoted. We plan to use them on our next project. Steve and Tempe Moore

Nick worked with us on a repair of our concrete driveway. He was very responsive and punctual. He clearly explained our options and the associated costs. The job was completed sooner than expected, exactly as requested, and at the price he quoted.

We had them reframe an exterior wall, install a new window, replace floor joists and rebuild the living room floor. They did a fantastic job and we will be hiring them again for additional work. Best of all, the work was done in a timely manner.

Ben Hamrick and his team did an outstanding job at our home. They did exterior work (4 sides brick) which included trim, front door, windows, replaced rotten wood on windows, etc, From pressure washing the house, walk and driveway, to the clean up, everything was done very professionally and in a timely manner. The week they were to start, the heat was almost unbearable and Ben thought that would delay things but it all worked out according to schedule. The crew was there by 7:00a.m. and worked consistently to finish. The most impressive thing was Ben and his team's attitude towards the work. Whatever additions were added, he obliged. His contract itemized everything in detail with nothing hidden. His quote won over 5 others. Not so much because of price (although reasonable and within range) but his personality had much to do with him getting the job. Would I recommend Ben Hamrick? Absolutely, without a doubt!

Our project involved replacing our 60 ft concrete driveway and 40 foot walkway to the front door with pave stones. This was a huge undertaking for us. Todd delivered on his assurance that 360 could do the job. John and his crew worked hard and in a professional manner to complete the work and results are beautiful!

I am very pleased with this company, they are fast workers, very neat, and meet our expectations. They took their time to explain the quality of concrete and the price is very reasonable. I would recommend a friend or family to use their business again. They responded and came to get the job done in one day after our agreement. Wow! Looks great as professional done on new concrete floor for our future garage to be build on. Yay!!! 😄👍

The work he and his crew did was phenomenal. They moved our sprinkler heads for the new driveway. Then they made a fancy line around the border of the concrete. It was so much more than what my husband and I expected. Fair price for a work well done. We will be contacting them again to help us with some inside the house projects. They cleaned up after themselves and the after product is wonderful. It was such a great job, they got some business from neighbors.

If you need someone that can help with any home improvement job, you need RL & Daughters. Tony was very professional, reasonably priced, promptness with completing the job, and a real standup guy. I originally called him to pour concrete on our driveway and patio extensions, but when I asked him if he could hang some crown molding, he said yes. So now my driveway and patio are complete and the crown molding is also complete. We are already planning the kitchen backsplash and backyard fence. There isnt anything he can't do!! I am very satisfied with Tony, and I am happy we found him.

Great Experienced Professional Exterior Painters! We are very pleased with Jackson’s workers and services he’d provided. He showed up promptly on time to give us a quote, worked very fast to finalize the details on what is asked and cost estimate. We were very happy with the process and would highly recommend Jackson and his team to others needing paint project. The project took about 7 business days. They taped the windows and doors and covered my newly remodeled deck so paint doesn’t get on it. They worked through painting the trims and edges with double coats of white paint. They sprayed the siding of the home.... which gave it a nice even coat! They painted the beams underneath the deck as well and garage door. We are very happy with the results. Once complete, we finalized and did a walk through for touch up and clean up on recess paints etc.... surprisingly ... there wasn’t a lot of excess mess left. He even pressured wash and cleaned the driveway for us because of some paint that was dropped by his workers. Some of his workers do no speak English but My communication with Jackson was sufficient enough to convey what my needs were with the project and the information trickles down. Again, VERY happy with his work and team! He’s very pleasant to deal with and very customer service oriented! We feel like we have a brand new home! Thanks Jackson and Team!!!

Karson came out to do tile work on my bathroom floor. He even picked up the tile for me which was really helpful. I live in an order house and it turns out the bathroom floor size isn't perfectly even. He did a excellent job making the rooms imperfections look unnoticeable. He kept me informed throughout the entire job. I plan to use him again to install laminate flooring in my basement.

Jay did an excellent job. He pressure washed our concrete driveway, sidewalks, and patio area. Jay also pressure washed our wood picket fence as well as stained the fence. He painted new wood around our deck area that was replaced last year. Last but not least, Jay removed two large bushes. Jay offered a reasonable rate for all his work. I will definitely hire Jay again. Dwayne

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How do you find a good concrete contractor?

Concrete contractors pave driveways, build foundations for homes, install retaining walls, create hardscaping for front and back yards, build concrete steps, and so much more. When searching for a driveway contractor, read reviews from previous customers and ask for referrals. Ask the contractor for photos of examples of their work that’s similar to what you want. Confirm they will get the proper permits so your driveway is up to code. Hiring a driveway contractor to install concrete can average $5-$6 per square foot, or more, depending on where you live, the slope and grade of the driveway site, and regional labor costs. For a new asphalt driveway, the cost could average from $3-5 per square foot. A standard concrete driveway of 500 square feet averaging $5-$6 per square foot would cost $2,500-$3,000 — so it pays to research someone who will do quality work. Excavation and grading work can increase your cost per square foot significantly. Ask whether the contractor provides a materials and labor warranty for their work. Some cracking of the concrete may occur as it settles, but you should talk with your contractor about any structural or aesthetic concerns you have. When hiring a concrete contractor, check out our tips for smart hiring on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost to redo a concrete driveway?

Replacing or renovating a damaged or time-worn asphalt or concrete driveway can boost your curb appeal and add to your home value. If your concrete driveway is nearing 20 years or more, it may be wise to invest in an entirely new driveway, instead of redoing your current one. Asphalt driveways average 15-20 years of life, so if you start needing major repairs around the 15 year mark, weigh the pros and cons of repairing or replacing it. Request bids from two to three driveway contractors to determine pricing and project scope, and check out our tips for smart hiring on Thumbtack. Here are some examples of average costs:

  • The national average cost to hire a concrete specialist is $2,750, but that price can vary greatly depending on the work needed to repair and resurface your concrete driveway, the square footage of the project, current costs of concrete, and regional labor rates.
  • Driveway contractors average $2-$3 per square foot to smooth and resurface your asphalt driveway.
  • Resurfacing concrete driveways averages $3-$10 per square foot. Pricing can depend on repairs needed, project size and geographic location.
  • Nationally, the average cost for resurfacing a 500-square-foot driveway ranges from $2,000 to $5,000.
  • Sealant for a concrete drive can cost $20-$80 per gallon.
  • Sealant for an asphalt drive averages 25 cents per square foot.

What do paving contractors do?

Paving contractors can be hired to install a concrete or asphalt driveway at your home, office or property. They can also repave an asphalt or concrete driveway that has been damaged by time, weather or heavy loads. When you are looking for a driveway contractor, request quotes from at least three professionals who are in good standing and have great customer reviews. They should do a site visit and write you a bid, detailing the work involved, materials needed, approximate length of the project and estimated cost.

The site for your new driveway will determine costs and the work required for your contractor. First, the ground must be excavated to lay a clear path. This means removing any trees, bushes and stumps. Next, the driveway contractor will grade the area, making a level surface for the concrete or asphalt. To ensure proper drainage, driveway contractors should install a sub-base of compacted gravel (or similar) 4 inches-8 inches deep, depending on your soil type. Then the concrete or asphalt may be poured and smoothed over the top. Your driveway contractor should recommend an appropriate sealant for your climate and advise you on curing time.
