My experience sets me apart from other criminal defense lawyers. There are several things I want potential criminal clients to know about me. I have more than 40 years of experience as a criminal defense lawyer with offices in Nashville and Miami. I represent clients who are being prosecuted or investigated for federal or state crimes. The majority of my practice is spent defending federal white-collar crimes, money laundering and drug trafficking. My considerable experience has allowed me to earn the respect of the Federal Judiciary, the United States Attorney's Office, the U.S. Marshal's Office, and all of the Federal law enforcement agencies (DEA, FBI, ATF, IRS, Homeland Security, etc.) in Middle Tennessee. If you are a foreign national I want you to know I am extremely knowledgeable in immigration law and I have represented and currently represent a significant number of foreign clients. I am experienced in post-conviction matters including appeals, habeas writs, and the appeal of prisoner's rights issues. I recently prevailed on behalf of a client against the Federal Bureau of Prisons after extensive litigation regarding a denial of a substantial amount (years) of jail credit. Even though our case isn't over with yet I just wanted to post something so far. We feel so lucky to have Mr. Arnkoff in our corner. We were accused of something we didn't do and had never ever been in any kind of trouble. We were telling the truth, but the officials just wouldn't believe us. Larry contacted us right away. I think he could sense the desperation I was feeling in my email. He had total faith in us right away and continues to stand by us. He has been really wonderful with this case so far. He is such a great listener. If someone can't listen they cannot possibly get facts correct, which is what I found as I was searching for the best attorney. Anyone who needs a knowledgeable attorney, who has great people skills and does very well with keeping you informed and his costs reasonable. He has done a great job already in taming these issues we face and I have faith in him that he's going to be able to uncover the truth for the law to open their eyes to see. You won't go wrong in hiring Mr. Arnkoff and I feel I'm a tough critic sometimes. We will come back to update when this is complete and we are celebrating. I mentioned above that I would be back to update our case after Mr. Arnkoff won to celebrate. Boy I didn't realize what a quick turn around it would be after I said those words. It's finally over ! : ) Things were looking rough and scary even though we always told the truth and cooperated with the authorities investigation. They did not want to believe the truth. Larry always knew what to say and do to start making the changes in this case that was needed. He turned this case around completely in a two week time period. He is very knowledgeable in both people skills and the legal system, which is so important to have just the perfect balance of. I'm so very proud to tell people what he did for us and we never even knew of him before this situation came to pass. Larry is just the right amount of tough and yet a compassionate person that listens and understands his clients. He knows how to use just the right amount of tough with the opponents- if it's needed at all. He sometimes chooses to save that for the court room in a sneak attack, so don't think he's a softy-No way. Those connections, The people skills and relentless amounts of phone calls he made on our behalf, convincing them that they were making a huge mistake were so very important to our case being dropped completely. He showed them we really had just somehow accidently stepped into something by simply purchasing something off of Craigslist (buyer beware). Then he continued to make calls until one day he called us and everything was over. It sounds much easier than it was. It was very stressful for us and hard work for him I'm sure. He always kept in great contact via phone and email never going more than 2 days to update me. It was the worse 6 weeks ever but it was done!! There was NO WAY we would be out of jail and with a clean record had it not been for Mr. Arnkoff. I have no doubt without Mr. Arnkoff, we would be sitting in jail for something we did Not do (now someone else has admitted to it) and when we did get out, we would have a felony on each of our records unjustly! For some reason even though we had never even had a speeding ticket in over 25 yrs or ANY other thing on our records in our entire lives, The authorities just would Not believe the truth. Somehow by the grace of God above, Larry had the right skills to turn it all around. He believes in the power of prayer. So he also knew I was praying about it all during those rough times, so I also had great faith in him. He's a good and a wise man. I know we would not be sitting here today without Faith and if we had not just lucked into searching and finding Larry Arnkoff. An attorney with many accolades, that didn't have to take on this little case, but chose to help us b/c he cared. We had never needed an attorney like this before, but I can tell you We will use him again for any reason. If he doesn't specialize in type of work that we are looking for the next time, he will refer someone he trusts to us, but we will always go to Larry. Not only will Larry always be considered first and for most our family's attorney, but I will always refer him as our friend, because we trust him completely. I found Mr. Arnkoff on Thumbtack because I was looking for a criminal defense lawyer to give me a FREE consoltation and second opinion on what another lawyer had advised me. I did not even think for a minute that I would end up with an actual private lawyer (especially someone good) . I thought I would just get a FREE consolt and that I would have to tough it out with the federal public defender because I did not have the money to hire a private lawyer. I placed my inquiry on thumbtack late at night around 11:00pm. The next morning, when I woke up for work at 6:00 am I already had a response from Mr. Arnkoff asking for more information on my situation. I was really surprised that a lawyer responded to me in less than 8 hours. So I replied to him and got up and got ready for work. By the time I arrived at work at 7:30am Mr. Arnkoff had replied to my reply and we decided to set up a phone consolt because I worked late that day. He said he was going to call me at 12:30pm during my lunch break and he did, he called right at the time he said he would call. He spent almost an entire hour with me on the phone and he let me talk and explain everything. He asked me lots of questions and answered tons of questions I had. He explained everything to me in great detail and made sure I understood what he was saying. He offered to go and meet with my loved one in jail and explain everything to him so that he would have peace of mind while being incarcerated. He went the very next morning and met my loved one and explained everything to him and answered his questions. I was surprised that he went to go see my loved one in jail BEFORE getting paid to do it. As I said earlier I did not think I would end up having a private attorney because I did not think I could afford one but I ended up hiring Mr. Arnkoff because he was willing to work with me in my situation. Mr. Arnkoff calls me on a regular basis and gives me detailed information and keeps me in the loop with my loved ones case. He is a very easy going man, he is very easy to talk to and very professional. He is very very knowledgeable and knows pretty much everyone in federal court and knows a lot of investigators and public defenders. He has a great network and he always always always calls me back. He is very reasonable and kind and down to earth. My loved ones case is not over and we still have a long way to go but it is such a big weight off my shoulders to have Mr. Arnkoff handling everything for me and being my loved ones voice and keeping me informed on what is going on and what things I can expect. He is a very straight forward person and does not tell you things to get your hopes up and then disappoint you. He seems to go out of his way to utilize his own resources and network of people that he knows to get things moving along. I highly recommend Mr. Arnkoff. He listens, answers questions and stays in contact with you. I have never once had to speak to an associate or anything. It is always him who calls me back.

Larry was very quick to respond to my cry for help via Thumbtack. Within only a week of our initial communication on here, we have already shared several emails and phone conversations. He's very quick to respond to missed calls. He was even so generous to meet with me in person to discuss my situation after having been informed of it three days prior. This is my first time dealing with anything relating to the law and litigation, and I was honestly a bit nervous going to meet a lawyer for the first time. He has turned out to be quite the gentleman; very polite, not a jerk, he seems to listen, and lets you explain your situation. I thought our consolation together went very well. When I was first falsely accused of assault I was very ignorant as to my legal options, and how to defend myself against such allegations. Luckily, I found Larry. He educated me on the due process of the court, etc. He's an excellent communicator and put my nerves at ease when I was distressed about the case wondering what would happen. Larry was able to secure a favorable outcome for me. He kept in touch regularly to see how I was doing and let me know he had everything under control. I hope nothing like this ever happens again, but if it did, I know who I would call.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
For criminal clients I have to weigh a number of factors before I quote a fee. Sometimes it is a flat fee and sometimes it is an hourly fee. Just because someone is charged with a misdemeanor as opposed to a felony does not mean it won't require a great deal of time to get the right result. I have to gauge how much time resolving the case will take. Doing the job right is the primary concern and I do not like taking shortcuts. Federal cases require higher fees than state cases. Clients with lengthy criminal history are charged differently. The particular offense charged also gets consideration when arriving at a fee.If you are looking for the least expensive lawyer do not call me. I have a great deal of experience and I know what it takes to get the job done correctly. Call me if you want the best defense not the cheapest.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I offer a free consultation to determine what the potential client needs. I prefer to meet with the potential client to make sure there is a comfort level between us. I particularly want them to know how good I am at what I do.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I attended undergraduate school at the University of Michigan and law school at the University of Miami. Both are high quality universities. I have been a practicing attorney for over 40 years. I am licensed in in Florida and Tennessee. I am a member of numerous federal district courts and circuit courts of appeal. I am a member of the prestigious CJA panel in the Middle District of Tennessee and I continue my legal education through their first rate CLE program. I am also a trained mediator.
