What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a Bachelors degree in Computer Information Systems and a Masters degree in Information Technology. I also attend several web design conferences every year, including An Event Apart, Converge, IN-Ctrl, Artifact, Breaking Development...
Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?
A recent client is starting a non-profit with good intentions, mentoring fatherless children. He needed a website for his organization, but didn't have any real content. I used photographic images to tell a story through a slideshow on the homepage. Actually, the slideshow IS the homepage. Without telling him a thing I sent him a link to the website. He called me a few days later to tell me how much he loved the "story" that the pictures told and that he absolutely loved the website. The organization now has a professional presence on the web. It is a work in progress, but will continue to grow as his organization does.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
We care about our clients and want to deliver a product that satisfies their every need. A happy customer is a billboard for more business.
What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?
It seems easy to create a website, and it seems easy with the proliferation of "website builders", but it is much more complicated to create a web presence that is successful.
