Ultimate professional!!! The job Mr. Alexander did was impeccable & far exceeded expectations! He not only knows what he's doing but his work ethic is unmatched! He literally stayed into the evening until the job was complete. We contacted him via Thumbtack late on a Sunday evening & he replied within MINUTES! We were shocked! Not only that, but he also worked us into his schedule the very next day! We received three quotes & his was actually the most expensive of the three, however, after reading others comments & his bio we felt like he most understood our unique & challenging task & his bid was spot on. We also had the feeling after speaking to him that there would be no surprise "add-on" fees and THERE WERE NOT! He is a good businessman not only because he is a man of his word but also because he knows how to accurately bid out his work! This seems to be a VERY OVERLOOKED detail in businesses especially those involving a service. He is more than willing to discuss the job on the front end & make sure you're on the same page as far as expectations & then he MORE than takes care of those & then some! We had a home where tenants had lived for 13 months & had LITERALLY not cleaned ONE TIME, (ashes in the fireplace from last winter were still there, their animals shredded door facings & drywall from being trapped in laundry room, & even found human waste in bathtub!!, etc, etc) but Mr. Alexander cleaned this home to move-in ready!!! As small business owners ourselves, we understand the value of hard work & doing what you say you are going to do WITHOUT adding on additional fees later. We have found that only people who truly know their business do this part well but strongly believe it is a crucial component in being successful. We will DEFINITELY, HIGHLY recommend Mr. Terence & his business, Oasis Cleaning!!! AND of course use him anytime we need services like this in the future. It is refreshing to pay for a service & feel confident that you actually got what you paid for & maybe even then some! We respect how hard he worked to complete a job incredibly well done! (This is our first time to use Thumbtack & it was obviously a good experience & will use again....I only wish Thumbtack would allow you to add photos to you post later as I did not have a chance to take the "after's" yet but they would definitely speak volumes!!!) Thanks again to Mr. Alexander & Oasis Cleaning! You truly lifted a weight off our shoulders!!

I usually do handyman work and home repairs myself, but had a big job that required a pro (which I was not looking forward to paying for!). I hired Jeremy to update my service drop wire, meter box, and service panel from the old fuses on a 1940's home. Jeremy's quote came in cheaper than other quotes I received, they showed up when they said they would, and the whole job was completed on time and on budget. The work was done on the exterior of the house and it looks fantastic compared to the mess that was there before. I will have another wiring project in the future and will use Freedom Electric again. Excellent all around!

He tied it on top of luggage rack . He secured it very tightly. He completed all the work the same day. On the Monday. He did an outstanding job . He was very professional and nice appearance. I would recommend him definitely.

I live out of town, so I had Brian come to my mother's house to help her with numerous small items, e.g., replacing the shower head, fixing some cabinet doors, etc. First of all, his work was excellent. My mother was thrilled with his quality of work and even plains on retaining him for some other tasks. This is what stands out to me: 1) He's honest. I can't emphasize that enough. You never need to worry that he's taking advantage. 2) He's highly skilled. Apparently he has extensive experience in the construction industry, so this isn't just some college kid with a hammer. He can skillfully do a professional job, because he's actually a professional at this. 3) He has good judgement that you can trust. Even when a part needed replacement, he very carefully spelled out which parts he recommended and why. He sent me several options. I could tell that he's reasonable and goes for quality. He won't have you paying simply for a name, nor simply give you something cheaply and poorly made. You can trust his judgement on these matters. 4) He's thoughtful and considerate. Because he knew that I lived out of town, he volunteered to send before and after photos of his work to give me peace of mind. 5) His communication is timely and thorough. He always lets you know when he will contact you, and you can count on him doing it. Even remotely, I always felt I had a pulse on what had been done, and what remained. He also responded quickly and thoughtfully to all of my communications. 6) His work is timely and thorough. He comes when he says he will. He follows up as promised. And he does what he says he will do. 7) He has a great work ethic. He refused to accept payment upfront, insisting that he be paid only after the work was finished, and up to our standards. That speaks volumes! 8) He makes it easy. From payment to coordinating times and what needed to be done, he went out of his way to be accommodating, and he made it the entire process quite painless. 9) Apparently, he's charming. My mother simply adores him and his fiancée. 10) Lastly, he simply goes above and beyond to leave the customer happy.

I needed repair done to my attic stair door. A bracket on one side had come off and the stairs could not be climbed or closed back into the ceiling. Sam was prompt and professional. He fixed the door and ended up mounting a flush mount light fixture for me at the last minute. He did an amazing job and I plan on using him for all my handyman needs in the future.

We have been trying to fix up our house to rent out this summer and after being stood up by other contractors several times, Jose went above and beyond our expectations by showing up and doing the work quickly. He was great at returning messages and working with us on price. He showed us receipts for materials and we actually paid less than the original quote even with some minor hiccups. When installing new sink stopper, our rusted drain trap fell apart. He picked up the part and came back on his own time to make sure it was taken care of. He went over the quote/contract twice and answered all my questions. We had rotten deck stairs and boards, an exterior door that needed replacing and painting, a drywall patch and trim piece installed. Everything was finished in a day! He has found a great team and we appreciated how hard they worked. We hope they will be available to help us with our new home!

Everything went great. It's obvious that Steve takes a lot of pride in his work. He doesn't cut any corners. I prepped the house myself but Steve took the time to re-caulk in places that I had missed. I also had some rusty nail heads exposed and Steve took the time to go over them with an oil based primer prior to painting. They did a great job of masking off the brick and the lines are clean. They painted the siding one color and the trim another and the lines are perfect. I had planned on replacing my back door because my dogs had torn up the finish and the trim around the frame. I told Steve not to worry about painting it because I planned on replacing it anyway. To my surprise, Steve was able to repair the door and make it look like new which saved me the expense of replacing it. I could not be happier with the work they did. My house looks better than it ever has.

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost to have a deadbolt lock installed?

Installing a new deadbolt lock can improve your home security, especially if you think your current lock system has been compromised or there are unaccounted-for copies of your house keys in circulation. A professional locksmith can install a new deadbolt for you in a matter of hours. The national average locksmith price ranges from $70 to $100. Locksmith prices for installing deadbolts may be higher based on whether the professional provides the lock or you have it on hand, how many components the locking system includes, and how long the installation takes. The cost to purchase a lock yourself from a big-box store can range from approximately $70 to $225 or more, depending on quality and materials. Higher-security locks often take longer and therefore cost more to install.

How does a locksmith open a locked door?

Locksmiths use specialized tools and techniques to open your door in the case of lockouts or lost keys. Trained locksmiths can pick your door lock with lock-picking tools such as a rake, a tension wrench, a half diamond or a hook. They may use a technique called bumping, which will work on pin tumbler locks, or as a last resort they may use a drill to remove your existing lock. The national average locksmith price ranges between $70 and $100. A locksmith can also replace your current lock system, re-key your locks if you have lost your keys, repair a broken lock, install a deadlock and more. Locksmiths not only help with front doors, they can help if you are locked out of your car, locked out of your mailbox, locked out of your shed … you name it. There may be an additional charge for emergency after-hours locksmith services. Check out our tips for smart hiring on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost to make a new key for a car?

Locksmiths’ prices for making new car keys can vary depending on the make of your car as well as the time of day and location. The national average locksmith price ranges from $70 to $100, but duplicating a key may cost as little as $30, while extraction a key stuck in the ignition, cutting a new key and programming the fob can cost much more.

You might need a new car key if you have lost your key, the key broke in the ignition, the key is bent or damaged, or you just want a duplicate in case of emergency. You can request a duplicate of a key you have on hand, or you can have a new key made or cut if you have lost your original car keys. If you need to replace lost keys, you’ll need to first provide proof that you are the owner of the car along with the vehicle identification number (VIN). If you’re just locked out of your car but don’t need a key made, a locksmith may charge $65 to get you back in. Locksmith car key services are often far more affordable than dealership prices for new keys.

How much does it cost for a car locksmith?

There are several reasons you may need a car locksmith. You may be locked out of your car (either with the keys inside or with no keys at all), you may have lost your car keys and need a new key, or you may want to make a duplicate car key. The national average locksmith price ranges from $70 to $100. Getting locked out of your car can be scary and overwhelming — especially if it’s cold and dark out. Fortunately, professional locksmiths provide round-the-clock assistance to help people in these circumstances.

Car lockouts are one of the main reasons people need a locksmith. Your locksmith’s price can depend on the type of car you have, the time of day (or night) it is, and where you are located. Locksmith pricing may be based on a flat rate, or pricing may be quoted to you after the locksmith determines the circumstances. For example, a flat rate for a car lockout could be $65 for standard vehicles. That price could be higher for after-hours or long-distance service, or service during extreme weather. If you have entirely lost your car keys, a locksmith can make you a new car key, but first they must verify that you are the owner of the car. Locksmiths can even program new car key fobs for you — often at a lower price than a dealership.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
