We hired James to help us with someaggression issues with one of our dogs. She was a changed dog when he left after just one visit. We had our second visit today -- he's working with both of our dogs. We are extremely pleased with him and the work that he does. We are so happy we found him. He speaks dog!

We've recently experienced intra house aggression between our two dogs and were needing professional assistance in how best to intervene. We are very impressed with James' compassion, thoroughness, and commitment to helping us with our issues. He offers very specific practices/homework that are within our & our dogs' abilities. James' flexibility in working with our schedules is a huge plus and he takes advantage of opportunities to expose the dogs to outside distractions. We are looking forward to our future sessions.

James came to our home for an intro training session with our 2 miniature schnauzers. James was very nice and thorough with the scope of the session. The dogs loved him, and he had a ton of great information and recommendations for our situation.

I have an autistic child who is TERRIFIED of dogs. She can't be around them without running away and screaming. We had a family trip to grandma's house planned. Grandma has a dog.I reached out to James to help me train my child to tolerate the presence of a dog. James was Great! We talked extensively on the phone about how to go about making my child comfortable. Both James and his dog were perfect. At grandma's house, my child tolerated the dog ( I won't say she touched him, ever) she repeated James' advice to herself the whole time. Now, she is capable of walking down the street and NOT running away when we encounter a dog. We couldn't be happier.

FAQs

  • What types of customers have you worked with?

Typically, the private in-home training that I do involves common issues like jumping, nipping, barking, chewing etc. Then, there are the people that are at their wits end with the potty training issues or separation anxiety destruction. Lastly, I have a lot of people call for aggression issues with actually biting people or other dogs. Dog's are good, but we need to teach them how proper no matter what the circumstance may be!

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

No matter who you decide to hire, make sure that you feel comfortable with that trainer specifically! It is important to make sure that dog trainers are implementing positive reinforcement techniques, because you will have to continue to do what they do once they are no longer in your home! Most owners do not have heart to physically correct their dogs with the force necessary to make an impression, and quite frankly it is really unnecessary. Friendly Neighborhood Dog Training has a motto of "DO NO HARM" - What a great way to enrich your relationship with your pet!
