We're sorry we hired Diverse Landscaping to do our job. To start with, we were told we'd have 3 men for a fixed price per hour. The clean out was way under bid. We were estimated 10 hours for 3 men. 16 hours were billed with two men and 1/3 of the cleanout job was completed. The scope of the job changed as the job went along as foilage was covering problems that needed addressed. The hill was too steep for the rock we originally wanted. We then, upon their recomendation, hired them to put in a retaining wall. Continually throughout this process product was under estimated and inadequate equipment was used. If a wheelbarrow broke while moving rock then the men would go into replace the wheelbarrow on our time. Work was slowed because chainsaws broke while taking out juniper bushes and work continued slowly without proper equipment. The owner was rarely on site and was not a backup to the men supplying them what was needed as should have been the case. I think he bit off more than he could chew with this job and wasn't professional enough to just say so. Near the end of the job I caught a 3 hour overage of hours charged. When questioning the original hours charged he got angry and said we got a good deal for the work done and he was tired of me questioning things and he's had a rough week. 57 paid hours went into this job. And we still had to finish the job ourselves. We ordered an additional 4 yards of bark and it's still not covered. Weed plastic was put on sloppily and is already sliding down our hill. It was put on in a way that it's over the limbs of our plants and too close to the base and bunched up and not overlapping edges...in otherwords it's sloppy and not going to block weeds. Weeds are already coming up in an area where weed cloth was laid without being tucked into the edges. The upper retaining wall was built on sand level with the ground without any material pushing onto it from the outside and without being put into the ground. A week into it and the underbase is starting to erode and the blocks are unlevel. When questioning the owner he said it's because it hasn't rained and we shouldn't be walking near it...which we had to do in order to finish covering our hillside with bark. He obviously doesn't intend to do anything about it. He answers any questions with defensiveness and misdirection. We're left with a huge mess that we are now going to have to redo and figure out ourselves. The upper retaining wall will not do what it was intended to do. The guys did work on days we were told they would and were very amiable to be with. Unfortunately, they didn't have the back up support they needed and we have no doubt that the work that was done will not last. In otherwords...hire someone else. I've tried adding photos but for some reason am unable to.
