FAQs
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
In this field, my continuing education occurs every single day simply because technology is always changing! Whether that means researching something on google, doing training videos for software I've never used, using lynda.com to do standard training in my field, or going to conferences to pow-wow with other professionals, I am learning something new about how to do my job better every single day!
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I was a family counselor for nearly 20 years, which was very rewarding, but also very demanding emotionally. I decided I wanted to try something new. Since I really enjoy creating things and very much abhor awful looking, hard-to-navigate websites, choosing web development as a new career made great sense for me.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Make sure you have a hand in being able to access and control your site. Even if you don't have the inclination to take an active role in working on your site yourself, you always want to have access to the reins in case things go badly and you need to pass the reins to a new web developer. I recently had a client come to me who wants a new site built at the same web address where someone had previously built her a site. Unfortunately, her original web designer died and she doesn't have the access information to her site!
