Hired on Thumbtack

Hired on Thumbtack

My brother came in from out of town to install laminate hard wood floors in my house, but he didn't have time to complete the project with the quarter round along the baseboards. I searched on Thumbtack for a handyman who could provide the service, and David’s quote was by far the best value. He even volunteered to paint the quarter round AND baseboards at no additional cost, because he wanted them to look nice and fresh! His response was quick, and his availability was very timely. David and his two sons came to my house early in the morning, enabling us to meet face-to-face before I had to leave for work. He insisted on our meeting to make sure that I was comfortable with him in my home, which I greatly appreciated it. All three gentlemen were very polite, respectful, and courteous. I have a small dog at home, and they even kindly interacted with him in my absence and catered to his doggy needs (going outside on occasion to either potty or escape the construction sounds). Communication with David was quick and convenient. We interacted via phone and text in addition to our meeting in person, and he was always readily available. He notified me when they were completed, updated me on my pup, and locked up the house as we had previously arranged. I am more than pleased with the final results. I would certainly consider the work professionally done. The quarter round is consistent and even, and the transitions are seamless. The paint has great coverage, and the edging is straight as an arrow. I could tell that he took meticulous care to not drip any on my new floors, which is a feat, since he was literally trimming directly next to them. Since I didn’t know what I was doing, I did not account for 10% overage in my material purchase. Even though he did what he could to minimize waste, I did not provide enough quarter round to complete the job. As a result, he wisely arranged the pieces to miss the areas that made the most sense – behind the stove in my kitchen, since it is not visible, and under my three exterior doors. While I am disappointed that the project isn’t 100% complete and wish I had known/thought to account for overage, I can’t hold that against him. When we discussed the final project over the phone later that evening, he was more than willing to come back out and complete the project at my earliest convenience. Furthermore, he was even willing to kindly walk me through the task with experienced suggestions and guidance to allow me to complete the DIY project on my own in order save some money. He certainly did not have to take the time to teach me a skill that would essentially take him out of a job, but he understood my desire to simply do it myself, and he answered all of my questions with confidence and patience. Overall, I’m thrilled with the service that David and Sons provided. They were honest, dependable, respectful and skillful. The final result is beautiful, and the price was more than reasonable. I highly recommend hiring them for your next project.
