Hired Complete Solutions after meeting with several contractors based on their reviews. They were more expensive than others but I thought hey, you get what you pay for right? At the beginning of the discussions JD was super responsive and on top of everything. He was great when it came to installing the lights. We discussed payment and he said, 1/3 + materials up front, which I paid promptly, he said 1/3 when they start, which I paid, and then he said 1/3 when they finish. I made the mistake of making the last payment with them before they finished. JD came with his crew to finish out some work and they had to come back to do some dry wall repair and painting, he asked me for the final payment (less $70 bucks for the outstanding work). Well, almost 2 months later, they still haven't completed the job and have basically stopped contacting me about it. At one point, he sent his team out to do the work, told me they would be here at 10:30 am, I said great and scheduled house cleaning later that afternoon to clean up any mess, as I was having family over that weekend. No one showed at 10:30, I didn't get a call or a text or even an email. His folks showed up at 2:30, when the house was being cleaned, made a big mess in the kitchen, and still didn't finish the job. Said they'd be back in a few days... this was before Thanksgiving and guess what, I am still waiting. And for their work, well, it's okay but kinda sloppy - attaching photos.

We could not be more pleased with the drywall work completed for us by Mark and Keter-Royale Restorations. We had our entire dining room walls drywalled, most of our kitchen walls, the master bathroom, and several ceilings throughout the house. Mark was very kind in helping us decide on what would be best for our needs. Through the remodeling process, we have hit several snags with other projects that resulted in the drywall work changing, either adding additional work we did not foresee before all the electrical and plumbing or just having to push the work back because we were behind schedule. Through all of our setbacks, Mark was kind, understanding, and flexible with us the entire time. He came out to the house three separate times to look at questions we had before he began the project. Once he began the work, he was fast, stayed on schedule, was very communicative, and left the house clean every day (often cleaner than he found it). Compared to other subcontractors we have dealt with, I cannot speak highly enough of Mark's work and professionalism. As people who know very little about this process, he was understanding, patient, and willing to answer any of our questions, even unrelated to the drywall work. We were thrilled with his work and would hire him again in a second!

HE CANCELLED 3 HOURS BEFORE START TIME. He cancelled the protect 3 hours before it was suppose to start because he had bigger jobs. We went bed at 4am because we were moving furniture all night. We're not even upset that he didn't take the job. We're upset that we had been talking about the job for a while and he should have never taken it. He told us that the 1 foot hole in our drywall might take hours. We also work from home until 11am and asked him if that was ok, and he said yes. He should have told us sooner. 3 hours! What??? """We have two large jobs that we are supposed to have completed before the start of the year. I am concerned that with the drywall work and hours that we can work there, it would not work with our schedule. Because of your need to also get it done soon I think that it would be in your best interest to hire someone who will not have to go back and forth between different jobs. I am sorry and I should have made the decision sooner.""""

Bdm came to my home and did an outstanding job. We ran into a few quirks during the process of the Reno which is expected because remodeling is always flawless on paper but in the real world your window or wall maybe out of square or the contractor before this one cut a few corners without your knowledge. Mr Bare handled each situation with complete honesty and grace. I would recommend him for any job big or small! I will continue using their service in the future.

Michael Fitzgerald is a professional general contractor in a world full of hammer holders. Our experience with him was very pleasant and worth recommendation. I was quite impressed how he treated our home like he would his own and never tried to cover up a problem that, if ignored, would have caused long-term damage. He is fair, punctual and does quality work. My wife and I both would highly recommend his services.

Daniel did an amazing job of screening in our existing covered patio. I spoke to several contractors, and no one but Daniel understood my vision for the project. In the end, it was even better than I had imagined, and it looks like it has always been part of the house. They came back after completion to adjust the doors and touch up the paint. Communication was terrific and they were a pleasure to work with. I'm planning to have them back asap to install a fence. And they left a birdhouse as a thank you gift!

I was so worried as I could not find anyone to come help me with my electrical, wood working, tiling, and plumbing needs as I was putting in a new deck, gazebo, and whole gut and replacement of a kitchen area. I am way out in the middle of nowhere in the mountains and never figured anyone would have responded. The next day I got a response from the contractor above and he came out the same day. I must tell you that he has been a God send! Not only did he do an excellent job on my electrical needs and the fact that I liked his meticulous work so much that I ended up using him to do our kitchen and other needs as well. We replaced out kitchen and we put in very high end cabinets countertops, hood, and appliances. We could not be happier and I believe the pictures will speak for themselves. DO YOURSELF A FAVOR.......HIRE THIS CONTRACTOR AS HE IS THE BEST OUT THERE 'BAR NONE' You are also welcome to contact me directly for further positive review on this contractor. Doug @ 904-625-6655

I was looking for a quick turnaround on some particularly high and difficult gutter cleaning because of weather patterns. Mr. Ragland came out next day, cleaned the gutters and even took the time to rake up the grass where the ladder had matted it at a very reasonable cost. I am adding these guys to my list of go-to contractors.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much will it cost to fix a hole in the wall?

If you have a hole in your wall, don’t despair; drywall repair professionals can patch the hole and repaint the surface and no one will be the wiser. The cost to repair a drywall hole depends on the size of the surface area of the damage, the materials and labor required, and (for a minor repair) any minimum service fee the repair company may charge. The actual labor and drywall prices may be lower than the minimum service fee, but pros must ensure their business overhead costs are met when they go out on minor jobs. To help keep costs low once the pros get there, make sure you have the right paint on hand if you want them to do to a touch up after the repair is complete, so you don’t keep them wait (and charging you for their time) while you search in the garage. Here are two examples of average prices for smaller drywall repair jobs:

  • Approximate cost to repair a 5-foot crack in a wall: $125 (labor $75 and materials $50).
  • Approximate cost to repair a 3-foot ceiling crack: $150.

What is the difference between sheetrock and drywall?

People sometimes use the terms “sheetrock” and “drywall” interchangeably, but they are not exactly the same. Drywall is the industry term for prefabricated sheets of wall, while Sheetrock is the brand name of a type of drywall. Depending on what room is being built, your drywall installation pro will select different thicknesses or grades of drywall. Standard residential drywall is ½-inch thick. Garage walls adjacent to a living space are typically ⅝-inch thick and serve as a firewall. For a garage ceiling, most contractors will use firewall-grade drywall materials to keep your home as safe as possible.

Different types of drywall can be color-coded to indicate their purpose. Purple or green drywall boards are often mold-resistant (MR) and are applied where moisture tends to accumulate, such as in bathrooms and basements or behind tile backsplashes at sinks. These mold-resistant sheets have a fiberglass instead of a paper facing finish to prevent water absorption. Regular drywall is gray or white. The drywall industry is constantly adapting with technology to provide safer and more targeted materials. You can even install soundproofing drywall to help prevent noise transfer through rooms.

How much does it cost to put up drywall?

The national average cost to hire a drywall installation professional ranges $375-$1,500, depending on the job at hand and where you are in the country. Your drywall installation cost will often be lower if the professional is installing the drywall in a new construction with open access as opposed to a remodel. The square footage of the job, the amount of materials, and the labor required also determine drywall prices. According to drywall pros, materials costs can range from 15 percent to 50 percent of your total project cost, depending on the work you’re having done. Request several quotes from drywall installation companies to find the right fit for your construction project. The quotes may be based on the company’s standard cost per square foot or a calculation of the time estimated to complete the job plus the size of the job plus materials and any travel fees. For example, drywall installation for one or two standard-size rooms could cost $900-$1,500. The cost to hang and tape an outbuilding with approximately 40 drywall sheets at 75 cents per square foot could total $1,450, including 3.75 days of labor for the drywall crew.

How much does it cost to repair drywall?

The national average price range to repair drywall is $210-$300. Drywall prices can vary greatly depending on the size of the hole or crack that needs repair, the amount of materials required, and other factors. Cracks can appear at the seams in your drywall due to uncontrollable factors like your house settling or even minor earthquakes. Drywall, although sturdy, will break with enough impact, so if a dresser falls and crashes into a wall or your have a mishap hammering in nails for artwork, you could need drywall repair. Drywall repair professionals may have a minimum service fee of $100-$150 regardless of the size of the job. This ensures that their business expenses are met anytime they send their crew out to a job. Here are some additional examples of average drywall repair prices:

  • Sand and texture five wall patches: $200 (45 minutes of labor and $40 of materials).
  • Repair a 4x8 section of wall: $225 (labor $150 and materials $75).
  • Replace drywall in an entire bedroom: $1,500 (price varies depending on the number of windows, whether there’s metal trim, etc.).
Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
