FAQs
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a Craftsman degree, a Master Craftsman degree, as well as a Vanguard degree (which there are less than 400 in the United States), from the National Wood Flooring Association. I use to teach at the N.W.F.A school twice a year.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I started going to work with my father when I was 10 years old. Sweeping out the warehouse, empty thrash cans, putting materials away. At 12, I was running a Clark super7 edger, scraping corners, and hand sanding. When I was 14, I learned how to use a Clark 1500FM floor buffer, and at 16 started on the Clark 504 floor sander.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Ask questions. There is a trend today to skip sanding procedures and use low end finish. There is a reason some poly cost $25 dollars a gallon and another $45, you will find out in 6-9 months.
