Introduction: When I meet with a client, my goal is to determine the pertinent issues in their case quickly, so that we can establish the possible consequences of and defenses to their charges. I also determine factors that might mitigate or enhance punishment. I want my clients to know what they are facing and what they might expect in court.
After 16 years in practice, I have a good idea of what to expect from different judges, prosecutors, and arresting officers.
I will put this experience to work for every client in order to get the best possible result and to avoid lengthy, expensive proceedings when appropriate. And I advise my clients when it is best to go to trial and fight charges.
I understand that my clients are not typically rich. Most people who face criminal charges do not have a reserve fund for such a situation. Often after paying a hefty bond, clients come to me with limited resources. I strive to provide effective representation at reasonable prices.
The "adversarial system," as our justice system is often called, can be a brutal institution that revolves more around someone's financial resources than anything. I really enjoy seeing everyday, average people actually receive justice in the face of the state's daunting power and resources.
