What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
There are no hidden fees! There is no travel fee. What we quote is the full price for an In Home Lesson.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
We would love to talk on the phone. This allows us to answer any questions the customer has in detail. It also allows us to find out more about the student so we can make a good match, student/teacher matching is the thing we do best.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Most teachers have at least one music degree, if they do not they are either working on one or have a wealth of experience teaching and are highly skilled at their instrument.
How did you get started doing this type of work?
The owner played piano all of his life, he has taught piano for over Twenty years. He saw two common needs families had for music lessons. They were always too busy and needed a night home and they needed to find a good teacher that fit their needs. Mobile Music Academy answers both of these needs by providing matched teachers to the student with the lessons in the home of the student.
What types of customers have you worked with?
The most common job we do is a 30 minute private lesson for a musical instrument. We also provide 45 minute and 60 minute lessons.
In addition to the private lessons we have done group lessons and well as class lessons in some schools. We are very flexible so if you have a odd situation we just might be able to come up with a solution.
The biggest thing is that we do the driving. So, it doesn't matter where the lesson needs to be, we will get there and do it. We just need the setting to be a good place to teach a lesson!
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Make sure you use a reputable company. Use companies that do background checks on their instructors and have a lot of experience. That will give you peace of mind before bringing some random person into your home to teach you or your children. Use a company that takes the time to learn about the student and matches them appropriately.
What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?
Do I have the required instrument? If you don't, then don't start until you do.
What is my availability? Know this ahead of time and save yourself some time.
Does the gender of the teacher matter for lessons? Most of the time it doesn't but sometimes it can be difference between failing or succeeding.
Is my child ready for lessons? Sometimes you don't know until you start but they need to be able to handle a private lessons for at least 30-minutes. This is different than a class, the attention is on them 100% of the time.
