FAQs
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
The FIRST FREE LESSON is where I get to know the students musical interests. After going over some initial information on their instrument we look over their favorite music to find a song that we could start working on. With every lesson I like to leave having already started playing, singing, or writing a song.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I graduated from the Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA where I studied Music Business and Songwriting. I have been teaching for over four years with students who have a wide range or ages, styles, and interests. Having been trained classically when I first started singing I have a strong foundation of proper technique that incorporates itself into any style of singing that the student may be interested in. My guitar playing also spans genres and styles that allows me to teach a variety of ways. For over fifteen years I have been singing and performing professionally both across the US and Internationally. With my long history with music I am ready and excited to get to share my passion for music with everyone.
- Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?
One of my students came to me to start taking guitar lessons. He practiced and was progressing very well. Although after a conversation during a lesson I found out that he was interested not only in guitar but also singing and some songwriting. With this student we found a way to combine the songwriting and some basic singing into the guitar lessons. By choosing songs that he could both sing and learn on the guitar he advanced with his timing and independence between the guitar and his voice. Adding songwriting to the lesson was simple by giving him some new chords each lesson to create with. The next week he had a much better grasp on chord transitions just by trying to write a little song based on the chords I had given him. Using the students goals and being flexible make my lessons fun and motivating.
