I Am Modern Materity is a full - service photography studio. We have a variety of services. We specialize in portraits (pregnancy, newborn, family), and our services stand out because we take the hassle out of getting prepared for the session. We provide our own gowns for the session and props. All you do is show up, and we do the rest. Our sessions are designed to pamper and celebrate everything about our clients. We love what we do. Jo is truly gifted as a photographer. We’ve had family photos in the past with other photographers and by far she is the best. She is very personable and professional. We love the memories that she captured for us. We will cherish them for a lifetime.

Overall my experience with JH Portrait Designs was good. Mrs. Horton was nice and extremely patient with my children. She provided my daughter and I with several outfit and jewelry choices which were very pretty. She incorporated my ideas into the photo session which I really appreciated. I wanted a family maternity shoot, but also some partial nudity of my pregnant body. This is my last pregnancy so I wanted to capture this moment in time. I received the photos very fast. She had them to me the next day. I was happy with most of the shots, especially the pictures with my family. I have no complaints with those. When it came to the partial nudity photos, I found that the were overly airbrushed and Photo shopped. I had two open heart surgeries that left me with a huge scar on my chest and a very prominent linea nigra (due to pregnancy). I noticed that in my partial nudity photos that both were removed, I felt like the image did not represent me since both my scar and linea nigra are very much apart of my body. I contacted Mrs. Horton to discuss the pictures and expressed that I didn't mind a little retouching, but wanted my pictures pretty true to how I look. For me, I don't know what my chest looks like without a scar and the linea nigra is what came with this pregnancy. She emailed two raw photos (one that I absolutely loved) and retouched two. I asked if she could lessen the airbrushing on six other photos and she said she would do it for an additional $60.00. I understand that it takes time to manipulate photos, but an additional $60.00 to lessen airbrushing/Photoshop seemed a little much especially since I plan to purchase actual photos of my family. I even asked if she could send the raw photos, but she said that she doesn't normally send them and that I would need special software to view them. That was a little surprising since I had no problems seeing the two she previously sent. Needless to say, I have six images of my pregnant body that don't reflect my actual appearance and it is disappointing. I wish I could've seen the raw photos and discussed which images I wanted retouched. I think it would've made a huge difference with my experience. If you a person who likes light retouching, please discuss with her ahead of time. It will save you additional fees and disappointment.
