Krista C embodies what it means to be a true lover of all animals. After finding out that she has a BA of Zoology and fulfilled her childhood dream to work with Dolphins, it all made sense to why she was so exceptional with my Pit-bull,"Gibson." She actually knows what exceptional customer service means. Her professionalism and knowledge were an absolute breath of fresh air in this era of sometimes horrendous experiences we have all been through. She went above and beyond what I expected! She takes her time to understand what someone wants to achieve by working with her, which sets her apart. It's not just a job or a session to her and you and your animal is not just another client in her mind. It's obvious she loves what she does and cares about how she can improve your relationship with your dog. She also takes that extra step to make you feel and that she understands what you are going through with you pup (Family Member). This makes it very clear that she wants working with her to be the best experience you have ever had. I found her to be personable yet very respectful and non-intrusive. Having to watch someone else tell my boy what to do, can sometimes feel like someone is telling me how to raise my two daughters. It's a fine line and she always kept consulting me to check if it was what I wanted to achieve, so that we were constantly progressing together. She helped me understand my dogs’ behavioral issues from his perspective / point of view. I feel like after our sessions I am so much more knowledgeable on how to embrace what makes him awesome and focus around that. She offered very interesting perspectives that I hadn't heard from any other dog trainer. Krista is honest, kind, affordable, accommodating, and innovative! After working with her just a few times, I had learned how Gibson needed me to be for him. For the first time I understood that he always wanted to obey and please me, but I wasn't being the strong figure that he needed. By implementing the techniques that she taught us, I can happily report back that Gibson FLAT OUT DOES NOT PULL ON THE LEASH! Amen! He is also much better with being aggressive towards other dogs. This has made bringing him to town lake and events all over Austin, a friggin blast. Thank you, Truly Krista,! You full blow Rock!

Hi Bernard, Unsure why you are reaching out as I did not book through Thumbtack and there was no contract signed. Regardless, I'll fill you in on what happened. I reached out on Jan 19th, she then texted me on the 23rd. When we spoke we agreed she would hold my spot for certain dates (late Feb) and that I would reach out at the beginning of February. I said this was a done deal and she could lock down the end of Feb. When I called in early Feb, she had already booked the entire month of February. I wasn't mad, she hadn't asked for a deposit or any such thing. She then scheduled me for March 5th. We agreed we would do a 10-day board and train and if she felt like she needed more time to work on my dog and get her where I needed her to be she would ask for more time. She was great at this point she offered a free session before the board and train because she had to move my date. We agreed she would be here on Feb 12th at 3 pm. On Feb 12th, I had not heard from her, so I messaged her at 2:44 pm to confirm, she didn't respond so around 3:10 pm I called her. She then told me she was going to be 15-20 minutes late, mind you, she was already 10 minutes late. Then at 3:59, she texted me that she was still 15 minutes away. She showed up 20 minutes after that. The session went by fine, she showed me a few tricks to work on and she left. At this point, I had paid the deposit to hold my spot for board and train. The next time I heard from her, she wanted to move my board and train (the one I had paid a deposit to hold) another 5 days, when I asked if something happened she said it was a mistake. Then we spoke about any progress I had seen and what I needed to pack for my pup. Next, the day she was scheduled to start her board and train we both agreed she would be picking her up at 9 pm on March 5th. She texted me at 9:05 pm that day that she was in route, pulled up to my house at 9:36 pm. Almost 40 minutes after the agreed time. We agreed she would work on three things: 1. My dogs constant barking outside at nothing and everything 2. My dog's general reaction when someone comes to the door 3. Her "stay," I asked her to work on it so that she stayed for longer. When a dog goes to a board and train it is the expectation that she will have improved at least a little bit in most if not all areas and that her good behaviors that have already been established will remain. During the board and train, she said my pup was doing great, that she made friends with her dog Marshall and that she was making progress with her. On the day her board and train was over, she had sent a picture of my dog playing earlier that day to which I only responded with a quick "lolol" because it was during office hours and I was too busy to type anything else. Later, she accidentally called me and I heard her complaining to who knows who about how I hadn't called her to pick up my dog (this was at 6:28 pm). I had just gotten out of work which she was aware of. So I called and we spoke, we agreed I would pick her up a little later and that she would text me her address and we hung up. At 6:34 pm I texted her to remind her to send me her address. Texted again at 7:02, and again at 7:09 (at this point my time was limited and I needed to head that way). At 7:12 she responded that she was on a call asked if I wanted to go later, I told her I could only do it at this time so she finally sent her address. Getting to her apartment was a nightmare because she couldn't explain properly how to access the complex. I had to park at a gas station and call again, she then informed me that I was supposed to go to the exit gate and she would come out and open it for me. I told her I was there and I still waited 10 minutes at the gate for her. At the pick-up, my dog jumped on me repeatedly (something she never did before she went on her board and train) but I chalked it up to thinking maybe she missed me too much. While I was at her house she mentioned how she took my dog to the park and stuff like that, during this time my pup barked a bunch. She was able to stop the barking faster than before but not super fast. When we went inside she then got her dog out, who was barking at me and I was put in a situation where I was nervous they were going to get in a fight or something and I was so focused on keeping my calm for the dogs that I forgot to ask her most things. When I asked her how long my dog could "stay" now, her response was "oh well it depends, you know, like who's around and stuff" That to me sounded super unprofessional and made it seem like she did not work on one of the three things we decided she would work on. Then I asked her how she was with people at the door and she said "well, not a lot of people come over to my apartment so we didn't really work on that" At this point, I was a bit upset. She told me about how her bathroom flooded or something halfway through the 10 days which I understand can be distracting but if I'm paying for the service, that honestly is just not my problem. We agreed her follow-up training session would be this past Tuesday (March 23rd) at my house. When I got home, I noticed a lot of the behaviors my dog was already good at had backtracked (getting on the couch, jumping on people, getting off when told to do so), she was still barking at everything, she couldn't stay longer than 10 seconds (which she could already do before the board and train). I then asked her politely to send me a list of all the things she had worked on and the correct commands so that I could keep up with the training. She said she would send it after her session (it was 6:13 pm). She did not text me back. The next morning I texted her and politely asked her to send the list again, she responded 9 hours later telling me that she worked on "leave it" which is the command to stop the barking (which still doesn't work). I then asked if that was it, she responded with basic leash etiquette that I was already doing before. And then she gave me a suggestion on what I could do to work on "place" which my pup already could do under a different command (which she knew). She then asked me to make the final payment. At this point, I was completely dissatisfied with her service, she did not complete ANY of the things I was paying her for. However, I decided I would speak to her in person and discuss what we could do to remedy the situation. She then sent me a stern message asking to pay again. I responded with a long text explaining my dissatisfaction with her service or lack of it, I asked her why she didn't ask for more time with my dog if she hadn't gotten anywhere with her and conveyed my intention to discuss it with her during our follow-up on Tuesday. To which she never responded, she then missed her follow-up session at my house on Tuesday and didn't even text/call to cancel or confirm, and now I got email from Thumbtack saying she reached out to get them to make me pay. I did not receive the service I paid for, honestly, at this point, I would like a refund. She doesn't even have the professionalism to speak to me about my dissatisfaction even when I said I wanted to discuss and find a solution. I paid this woman almost $1,000 to train my dog and all she did was board her and make her behavior worse, and she still wants an extra $400. Her saying she completed the work is a blatant lie since we had a list of things she would work on and there was minimal improvement on one of the three and absolutely no improvement on the other two that were easier. If she had called and said that she was struggling with my dog and she was going to be unable to get her to do the agreed upon, I would've been alright with that and taken my dog back. But she said she was doing it, and it was going great.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
After initial communication, a phone call is scheduled to discuss the dog's behavior in detail and determine which program will best fit you and your dog's needs. Upon deciding which program is best for your dog, we will discuss availability and preferred dates. A 25% deposit will confirm and hold your Program dates. I am always happy to answer questions. Owners are updated every other day, if not daily, along with pictures and videos of training and progress.
