I, my family with our kids were visiting the United States from my home county on a tourist visa. We wanted to get permanent residence (Green card) for myself and for all family members so we can live the American dream lives here. We had no clue! We didn't know anyone in the USA! We didn't know the American law and the legal immigration system. We didnt trust anyone. Then, we Google for immigration lawyers in the local area. We couldn't help but to notice that Patrick & Qureshi, PLLC had five stars reviews through out the web. So we contacted them. They immediately replied to us, invited us to their office for free consultation, gave us 50 minutes consultation free of cost. They explained us everything, They explained us the strategy. What can we expect from them and from immigration authorities. We were very impressed. We immediately hired Patrick & Qureshi, PLLC for our entire family. It was the right decision we made. They prepared us before our interview with the immigration. We got approved. Now, all our family has a green card. Thanks to Patrick & Qureshi, PLLC. We highly recommend them to anyone.

Met Ral Obioha after entering a search on Thumbtack. I was looking for an immigration lawyer to help me after my fiancé was turned down at the embassy and I was happy that I began getting phone calls soon after completing the request. I took a few calls and and emails and had some options. I was trying to decide on some appointment times when the phone rang again and it was Ral. We talked, I went in to see her, and she went to work on my petition. I'm beyond pleased with how the process went. Ral seemed to work tirelessly and kept me moving with checklists, keeping me on track, and accommodating my busy work schedule. Our meetings felt more like two friends talking rather than an attorney and client. Ral listens intently and forgets nothing. I found her brilliant and the work she did, the package she put together for my waiver petition, was impressive. I'm absolutely satisfied that she put forth an excellent case for me. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend her for anyone needing help with an immigration case.

If you are reading this you are seeking the truth and help. Here you will find it. Meehan & Naveed Attorneys at Law are the utmost professional attorneys I've ever worked with. Do not think I mean prim. They are friendly. Courteous. Responsive. Their work quality is above reproach. I spoke with six different attorneys, SIX!, within 24 hours of my family's final immigration interview. Meg Naveed took my case. Negotiated an upfront price and grabbed the storm by the reigns. What truly attracted me the MOST to this firm was their absolute honesty in everything we did together. All they required of me and my family was to be prepared, and they did that also! Prior to the meeting Meg took the time out of her busy schedule, rescheduled where necessary to fit ME in, practice interviews and rehearsed before we even left her office. This law firm is truly the best immigration law firm I've ever worked with. With generations of experience on BOTH sides of the immigration front and a fresh new look and understanding of today's world, Meehan & Naveed Attorneys at Law know what to do, when to do it and precisely who to speak with to get it done. I trust them with the future of the immigration for the rest of my family. Last note. The attorneys will not allow the interviewers to "steam roll" you. The attorney(s) are there to help you and this firm nails it. They stick up for you and are a great barrier of relief between you and "them".

January of 2015 while on holidays in Houston, my wife and I decided to speak with an immigration lawyer about moving to Houston to live. I am a natural born citizen of the USA but my wife and her two boys are Argentine. Other people we know that have immigrated to the States typically have been sponsored through their work but our situation and paths were different requiring us to find a local lawyer familiar with out type of case. I found several names online and sent out requests for information. Ms. Rahgozar responded within a day and was the only response we received. To our pleasure we found Ms Rahgozar to be personable, professional and knowledgeable, she took the time to explain the whole process, all of the fees, the steps required and the pitfalls we could encounter. Upon return to Buenos Aires we began the process of gathering documents and information for the application. Every document had to be translated and certified, this included but was not limited to birth certificates, school records, marriage certificate, bank statements, character references from friends and business relations, the list goes on. Since we had a comprehensive list provided to us by Ms Rahgozar and her timely responses to our many inquires we had everything required by the time we returned to Houston the next year. Back in Houston everything went smoothly, Ms Rahgozar and her staff prepared our application and guided us through the process. Unfortunately the immigration system was slowing down for a variety of reasons but Ms Rahgozar kept us informed and reassured us that nothing was wrong, it was just the speed of government. On the day of our interview Ms Rahgozar was prompt and had a comfortable working relationship with the Immigration's Agent assigned to our case. The interview itself was a bit anticlimactic, having heard horror stories about the interviews going terribly wrong we expected the worst and were surprised at how easy it was. Since our application was spot on and Ms Rahgozar had done a good job of preparing us, the interview was smooth and effortless. Within two weeks the green cards arrived and we all celebrated. I highly recommend Ms Rahgozar and her firm, they were always professional, kept us abreast, informed and importantly there were no 'oops' moments or hidden fees. Another huge plus to us is the fact that her staff always included someone fluent in Spanish allowing my wife to discuss some of the technical legal issues in her native language and to help us insure the accurate translation and interpretation of documents. A last word; My youngest stepson, Joaquin, just graduated from high school here in Houston. With his Green Card in one hand, Diploma in the other and citizenship on the horizon, he feels the world is his to own as he prepares to navigate the many paths the future has to offer to him. No small thanks and gratitude go to Pegah Rahgozar and the Rahgozar Law Firm for helping us make this a reality. Besos enorme Marc Pujol, Marisu Rimoldi

Fantastic experience with David! His office assisted us with a green card application for my spouse from start to finish. He was always available to us (responding to emails in mere hours or often even minutes after we sent them) and always patiently answered all our obvious questions and walked us through the whole process and I can confidently say that this would have been an incredibly frustrating and difficult experience without him. For what his office charges, the value for money and standard of his services are incomparable to other options in the region. Anyone who hires David can rest assured to have one of the best if not the best immigration lawyers in Texas.

Mr. Zavala is very helpful, made me feel extremely comfortable and when other lawyers said "I just can't help", Charles dove right in and helped me every step. I am in need of an immigration lawyer for green card application since my H1 is expiring soon. I have asked for different opinions from several lawyers in Houston. All of them could answer my questions and my concerns. However, Aqrawi, Aiken & Nguyen Firm gave me the most pleasant experience when I was having the consultation with them. They do care about my case and provide professional information to me. I look forward to be working with them and I will highly recommend them to my friends who are in need of immigration lawyers! Thanks!!!

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What does an immigration attorney do?

Immigration lawyers help their clients through all phases of the immigration process. Experts on immigration law, they are legally qualified to represent U.S. citizens, permanent residents or undocumented immigrants. Immigration lawyers also provide assistance to visitors here on student, work or travel visas, and can represent clients who may have an expired visa or who have overstayed their visa.

You can hire an immigration lawyer to assist you with petitioning for renewing a permanent resident or green card, navigating the naturalization process, submitting an employee-based petition for a work visa, filing a petition for a family member, or representing you or a loved one who is facing detention or deportation, as well as replacing, extending or changing a current visa, green card or work permit. The immigration process is highly complex, with multiple hearings, paperwork and requirements. Hiring a legal expert to represent you can help you make your best effort in the process. When researching immigration lawyers, it is very important to verify their qualifications and find a reputable attorney. Read reviews and verify that the immigration lawyer is licensed by your state before paying any fees.

How do you find a good immigration lawyer?

Research is key to finding a good immigration lawyer. The immigration process can be overwhelming and complex, so a trustworthy advocate is critical. When you have identified several eligible candidates, verify their immigration law license to protect yourself and your finances. Once you have a set of licensed immigration lawyers in mind, choose one based on these considerations:

    • Mutual respect: You want an immigration lawyer who treats you and your family with kindness and consideration. You’ll do the same for them.
    • Availability: Before hiring, note if they have responded promptly to your emails and calls. You don’t want to hire someone you have to chase around.
    • Proven success: Read former client reviews and research their success rate with cases similar to yours.
    • Transparent rates: Ask directly about what their rates are, how they bill, and what they estimate your legal fees will be. Ask if they will sign a fee agreement, and get receipts for all fees paid.
    • Verify who will handle your case: Sometimes junior lawyers work on firm cases. This is okay, as long as you have discussed it and are comfortable with it. When junior lawyers or paralegals are working on your case, ask if the hourly rate is lower.
    • Be wary of anyone who promises you specific results: No case is certain, and the immigration lawyer should be honest about what you can expect.

How much does an immigration lawyer cost?

Immigration lawyers are experts in the nuances of the highly complex United States immigration system. They help clients of all backgrounds petition for immigration status and become U.S. citizens, and can represent clients who are facing deportation or detention. Nationally, the cost people pay for immigration lawyers averages $500-$1,010. The services you need will have a huge effect on your costs. For routines cases, such as applying for a travel visa, an immigration lawyer may be able to confidently quote you a set price, while more open-ended cases may be billed at an hourly rate of $200-$500, or more, depending on the reputation and experience of the firm and lawyer. Before hiring an immigration lawyer, ask what their plan for your case is and what expected costs may be. Many immigration lawyers work from retainers, and request a set amount of money upfront from which to work. For example, a lawyer who charges $300 per hour may estimate $4,000 for a standard family-based immigration case, the common process in which a U.S. citizen petitions for permanent residency for their spouse, fiancee or family members.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
