I reached out to an agent on thumbtack for some help installing Curtain rod brackets(image attached) on 9 windows. BRC Handyman Services from Bailey Construction LLC reached out to me saying that the entire job would be done for $150. I sent them the pictures and told then that one of the window is 16-17 feet high and I needed handyman services just for that. On the appointment day, he came with a ladder that wouldn't reach the ceiling and he said he would come back within 2 days to do the job. I asked him if he could do the other 8 windows that day and comeback to fix the remaininghigh ceiling window on a later date. I also offered him $50 ($200 for the entire job) extra on what he quoted before. He and his associate started installing the brackets. I asked him if he could screw the brackets into studs instead of sheetrock. Studfinder he got couldn't even find the studs and they had a hard time figuring out the stud location. Finally, I asked them to just screw the brackets to sheet rock and they finished installing brackets on 7 windows. Handyman and his associate spent a total 1.30 hrs working on this. His associate took one hour to do a sloppy job on one window. Brackets did not align at all. His associate went to their truck atleast 10 times just to find the right Philips screw bit. I ended up offering one from my personal tool kit which wasn't returned at the end of the job. After working on 7 windows they wanted $250, $100 more than what they quoted just to install brackets on walls around 8-9 feet high. I told them I can give $150 (initial quote they gave me) for the job that they did on that day and give $100 extra if they finish the job the following day. They took the $150 I gave them and never showed up again or responded to my message.
