LPZ was contacted to install a countertop on a new cabinet and replace an existing one in our new office kitchen. Everything went as expected (initial communication was good and the granite was attractive) until they had to cut the hole for the sink on the replacement counter. Supposedly they were concerned about the stone breaking during transit so it was communicated they would cut “on site.” That didn’t sound unreasonable to me so I agreed. What we didn’t expect, however, was that they would cut inside (the kitchen). Even worse, they didn’t drop cloth or plastic seal the small kitchen area, which would have been extremely easy to do. Additionally the made no efforts to move or cover items or close any of the other office doors. The result was an incredible amount of dust in our entire office. Tables and chairs, cabinets and shelves, new products, over ten thousand dollars worth of TVs and electronics, appliances, walls and ceiling…thick layer of dust everywhere! They also left a lot of mess on our sidewalk, residue on the floor and some type of strong smelling “goop” in our restroom sink. Absolute mess and completely unprofessional. Speaking of unprofessional, as I left the office briefly during the install, the service person had children and other family members come and hang out in the office, which they weren’t not permitted to do. We have a professional space with expensive furniture and technology that is not for kids. They quickly exited upon my arrival. The owner’s (Gilberto Lopez) remedy for this colossal mistake was a $100 discount on the service which was laughable. I told him if he could get everything cleaned up the right way for $100, that would be a deal. I told him to let me check with cleaning company to see how much it would be to clean. He then threatened to have his installer remove a block of the granite until he was paid the balance of the invoice! Unbelievable! He insisted this was minor and to be expected and even asked why I was making a big deal out of it. Out of frustration, I agreed to a $300 discount to cover the dusting cleanup based on a verbal estimate I received from someone. Unfortunately, we have already made several rounds of cleaning and dusting and the problem has not been fixed. Worse, it’s in our air filters, of course. Another $100+. We also are having our electronics cleaned internally. Our new Christmas tree was layered with dust along with books and shirts that we sell. We are now contacting a restoration company to see if they can help get our office back to normal. They also didn’t use any type of paper or cloth to walk on like every other contractor leaving reside on our carpets. Besides those items, they used a sharpie on our new trash can lid and dented our new refrigerator. The damage and frustration caused by this company combined with their flippant attitude about it is horrible. If you’re reading this and considering them, run the other way! They should not be rewarded with more business after this kind of sloppy work. By the way they also operate under the name Dallas Stone Investment and Remodeling.
