- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Continuing education in taxes is a must. An EA license holder is required to do continuing education to maintain their license. I generally have at least 30 CE credits per year in tax and accounting.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I noticed that my father would get a booklet every year with big bold numbers 1040 on it. When I was 16, the booklet came again, and I asked my father if I could look at it. He gave it to me and I began to read. I found it interesting and it provided example scenarios within the booklet. I later found the forms within the booklet, and began working a "sample" tax return based on what I was reading. I decided that I enjoyed doing this and later studied further and pursued this line of work.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Do your research on your provider. Verify their licenses. Make sure they are honest and have integrity.
