FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Murals can be quite complex to price due to several variables: wall conditions, style of mural. Level of complexity. Wall dimensions. Are special tools are required (like scissor lifts, scaffolds, cranes) to reach the top? Wall location. Is lettering involved? Logo reproduction? Are sign permits required by the city? Aside from the usual artistic thinking required for an effective and inspired mural, beware of muralists don't think of these things before giving you a quote. Chances are they're not experienced and could cost you more in the end with repainting, code enforcement fines, embarrassment and that daily gnawing in the back of your mind as to why that wall continued to bother you.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
There comes a point when experience trumps academics and theories. I've taken my disciplines to the limits and if I need re-educating, I challenge myself with greater goals, higher highs and deeper diligence. My on-going education is in realizing I know a lot, but never know it all. I make it my personal mission to learn something valuable Every. Single. Day.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I was born with natural 2D and 3D rendering gifts and though in adolescence, I tried denying them, I eventually embraced them. There is nothing like following your bliss, no matter the odds. I don't do this for the money. I do this for a living.
