- How did you get started doing this type of work?
It all started with admiring, learning and following in the footsteps of my sister, who is now my business partner. Sherunda began her tax preparation experience over 25 years ago while working on her accounting degree and attending the University of North Texas in Denton. She became extremely interested in tax preparation while in college. She took on the task of preparing our parents and her own tax returns and as the family began to learn of her expertise she began taking on additional clients year after year. Shauna, had the vision that one day two sisters could venture into a joint business and form a partnership that would ease the tasks of clients financial duties and tax obligations by keeping them informed and assist with the preparation of preparing business and individual tax needs of their clients, as well as offering more valuable consulting services as an additional product to their clients. Combined there are over 37 years of tax preparation experience being offered to existing and new clients. Staying up to date on tax law changes, taking courses and eventually obtaining our PTINs through the IRS was key in launching SMZ Notary & Consulting, LLC with tax preparation being one of the second leading services offered. Currently, we offer mobile services in addition to an office to serve our clients. We continue to stay up to date on tax law changes to ensure our clients' needs are met year after year.
